Position Summary:

As a Senior Product Manager, you own whether the solution is valuable to customers and viable for the business, working alongside design and engineering, who bring usability and feasibility. This role needs to build strong working relationships across design and engineering and pull in the right partners for the problem at hand. It also needs a working knowledge of the constraints across marketing, sales, customer success, finance, accounting, legal, and privacy, plus a deep understanding of who our athletes are and how they actually use our products.

That depth comes from genuine curiosity: about the business, about the families and athletes we serve, about the data behind their behavior, and about the technology, including AI, that shapes what's possible for the product. The best person for this this role builds shared context across the teams around them, and earns trust and rapport with stakeholders, not through authority, but by consistently showing up with the right questions and the right evidence.

This role sits at the bleeding edge of solving problems for families navigating the college recruiting process. The decisions made here will shape the experience for thousands of families, and in some cases change the course of a young athlete's life. It's an individual contributor role, accountable for solving real problems for customers in a way that works for the business, not just shipping a list of features.

Success here is measured by the outcomes we create for athletes and families, and by how those outcomes move the business forward.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Execute against and help inform the product vision and strategy for the Core Athlete experience, translating it into a roadmap where each phase of work builds on the one before it, not just a queue of features. Foster shared understanding of that vision and strategy across your team and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain deep, current knowledge of the business, our athletes and families, the data behind their behavior, and the technology behind our products, and use that knowledge to spot the right problems early.
  • Own the backlog. Write user stories and acceptance criteria that make the “why” clear, not just the “what.”
  • Partner with design and engineering, and pull in the right people across the business, to move from discovery to delivery.
  • Run experiments to test solutions before betting the roadmap on them. Feasibility and usability get tested early, not discovered late.
  • Track industry trends and the competitive landscape in athlete recruiting, and bring that context back to the team.
  • Stay fluent in AI as it evolves. Spot where it can change the product for athletes and families, and use it to speed up your own research, analysis, and daily workflow.
  • Build trust and rapport with stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Support. Use data and a clear narrative, not just authority, to align people around decisions.
  • Stay accountable for the metrics behind the roadmap, not just the delivery schedule.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally including consumer-facing or user-facing products on a sprint-based, cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated ability to run product discovery: framing problems, testing solutions with real users, and killing ideas that don't hold up.
  • Working SQL skills. You should be comfortable pulling and interpreting your own data rather than waiting on someone else's report.
  • Experience partnering directly with engineers and designers as peers to move ideas from discovery to delivery.
  • Genuine curiosity about the business, the customer, the data, and the technology, and the judgment to know which one matters most for a given problem.
  • AI fluency: comfortable using AI tools day to day, and sharp enough about what AI can and can't do to spot where it genuinely changes the product.
  • A track record of turning ambiguous, cross-functional problems into a clear, prioritized backlog.
  • Proven track record of translating complex business needs into clear product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills. You should be able to write a one-page narrative that convinces a skeptical exec, and influence and align senior stakeholders, not just present a slide deck that restates numbers.
  • Highly self-motivated and resourceful, comfortable leading both strategy and execution.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Comfortable holding a position and defending it with data, while staying genuinely open to being wrong.
