Job Function
This position is responsible for serving as media coordinator or co-media coordinator to select championships; compiling daily and season-end statistical leaders for selected sports; editing selected Rating Percentage Indices and overseeing Divisions II/III score reporting; updating selected records books; proofreading content for digital championship programs and print programs sold at select championships; and assisting with the production of media and non-media credentials used at NCAA championships. It is anticipated that the selected candidate will serve as media coordinator for the Men’s NIT championship and the Women’s Gymnastics championship, and as co-media coordinator for the Division I women’s basketball championship. The candidate will also compile statistics for Divisions III football, men’s basketball and baseball.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as primary or secondary media coordinator for assigned NCAA championships.
- Serve as editor of records books and stats manuals for assigned sports and championships.
- Compile daily and season-end statistical leaders for assigned sports using game-by-game reports from member schools.
- Coordinate the collection of member institutions’ rosters and schedules prior to each season to manage daily statistics and records, as well as sharing data with media partners.
- Manage the NCAA career statistical database to maintain all-time and active career leaders for sports for which the NCAA tracks statistics. Includes tracking transfers, players awarded additional eligibility, and individual name changes during the student-athletes’ careers.
- Assist NCAA partner with the production of digital and print programs for NCAA championships.
- Develop marketing and promotional media, including digital and social media, for assigned NCAA sports and championships.
- Prepare press releases and other communications relating to assigned NCAA sports and championships.
- Assist with production of selection shows on NCAA.com.
- Provide support to NCAA committees in selection and seeding of NCAA championship fields, including the coordination and calculation of metrics used by committees for assigned NCAA sports.
- Liaise with championships host media coordinators for assigned sports.
- Coordinate score reporting for assigned NCAA sports.
- Liaise with NCAA Communications staff on championship matters affecting the Association generally.
- Work with internal team to determine team and individual national statistical champions and manage awards program.
- Work with Genius Sports on the maintenance and development of NCAA LiveStats software.
- Assist with production of NCAA Championship credentials.
- Manage inventory and distribution of media-related supplies for NCAA Championships, including seat cards, armbands, photo vests, labels, lanyards and mic flags.
- Respond to frequent inquiries from the membership, media and general public regarding NCAA statistics, records and championships.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Education Required: High School Diploma. Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
- Two to four years of sports information experience at an institution or conference office.
- Substantial experience with, and knowledge of, publishing and creative software, including Adobe (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Association's structure, function, policies, and rules desired.
- Established background and knowledge of college athletics desired.
- Strong and varied background in sports statistics and major event media operations required.
- Estimated Travel: <20%.
- This position will be based in Indianapolis. The current work environment is hybrid; with three days in the office required, with two remote days.
