The Manager, Social Media will be responsible for daily content strategy, channel management, and publishing across Heisman social media channels. This person will also lead content curation with an emphasis on cross-channel storytelling and “vertical” platforms. Reporting to the SVP, Content, this role will work collaboratively with the Heisman team to develop and distribute social content that fosters engagement, extends reach, and grows audience.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how people consume social content, an eye for detail, and stay up to date on cultural and industry trends.

Key Responsibilities:
Social Media Strategy
  • Develop organic social media channel strategies in conjunction with Heisman leadership team.
  • Establish guidelines for tone of voice, content, and posting frequency on Heisman platforms.
  • Build detailed distribution plans for priority content initiatives.
  • Assist with influencer/creator content strategy and production.
  • Build and manage relationships with universities, conferences and media partners to optimize reach and engagement.
 Channel Management
  • Own the editorial calendar and oversee day-to-day social publishing for the Heisman accounts.
  • Quarterback live coverage of Heisman events and moments, ensuring quality and consistency across all channels.
  • Curate, prioritize, and produce content that is consistent with brand messaging.
  • Create accounts and lead content publishing for vertical video platforms (i.e. TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Snapchat Spotlight).
  • Engage with followers, fans, creators, and influencers through comments, direct messages, and responsive content.
 Brand & Storytelling
  • Support the development of content franchises and other social assets for partners & prospects including the new Heisman Hopefuls season-long platform and the 365 days of the year Heisman Club Winners program.
  • Ensure content is optimized for platform-specific formats and audience behaviors, with a strong emphasis on short-form, social-native storytelling along with longer-form content for more traditional distribution channels.
  • Deepen brand relevance among younger and more diverse audiences while maintaining the legacy and prestige of the Heisman Trophy.
  • Support the Heisman Foundation by integrating the Trust’s charitable work, mission, and values into compelling narratives that highlight leadership, service, and community impact.
 Content Creation
  • Produce vertical video content using digital production applications such as Adobe Premiere and CapCut.
  • Attend and cover Heisman events, including shoots, games, community initiatives, with the goal to produce compelling content that captures fans’ attention.
  • Identify opportunities to create content throughout the college football calendar.
  • Guide on-camera talent, athletes, and ambassadors to ensure authentic, consistent representation of the Heisman brand.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external production partners to maintain creative excellence and brand consistency.
 Measurement & Reporting
  • Define success metrics and KPIs for content performance, audience growth, engagement, and brand impact.
  • Use data and insights to inform strategy, optimize content, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare reporting documents for stakeholders – including Heisman Trust – that demonstrate strategy, execution, and achievement of social media goals.
  • Stay ahead of digital, social, and media trends, identifying new platforms, formats, and technologies to keep the Heisman Trophy culturally relevant.

 Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of relevant social media experience.
  • Strong visual eye with regard to the production and curation of social media content (photography, video, graphics).
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging social media platforms and trends.
  • Understanding of sports culture, college football, athlete-driven storytelling, and the evolving media landscape.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to guide content decisions.
  • Understanding of available data across platforms and how to interpret it to inform decision-making.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Proficiency in digital production applications such as Premiere, After Effects, and CapCut preferred.
  • Ability to develop meaningful, trust-based working relationships.
 
Preferred Experience
  • Background in sports leagues, collegiate athletic departments, bowl games, media companies, digital publishers, and/or culturally relevant consumer brands.
  • Familiarity with NIL dynamics, athlete branding, and collegiate athletics ecosystems.
  • Experience creating and publishing content for vertical video platforms.
  • Experience with social media measurement tools such as Sprout, Emplifi.

 Work Environment & Travel
  • Hybrid in-office environment, as applicable.
  • National travel required for content production and creative partner engagement.

 Compensation
  • Salary Range - $65,000-$75,000
