Under the direction of the Associate Director of Sports Turf & Grounds, the Sports Turf Technician will assist with the preparation and maintenance of UCF Athletics facilities. This includes all practice and game fields for baseball, football, soccer, softball, intramural fields, and the on-campus football stadium.
Responsibilities include, btu are not limited to:
- Perform infield skin management and field repairs for baseball and softball.
- Assist with field layout, painting, and logo marking for all athletic facilities.
- Apply fertilizers and pesticides in compliance with applicable laws and maintain all necessary records.
- Operate and maintain field maintenance equipment.
- Support setup and breakdown for athletic events and practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one (1) year of relevant experience; or
- High school diploma and three (3) years of appropriate experience.
- Relevant college coursework in sports turf, horticulture, or golf course management may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in athletic field or golf course preparation and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with skinned/clay surface management.
- Demonstrated advancement in responsibilities and strong communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, operate heavy equipment, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Due to the nature and scope of Athletics operations and events, this position requires availability to work scheduled home games and matches. This includes work during evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
