As a member of the executive management team, this position assists in providing the management, administrative direction, coordination, and control of activities of the overall Intercollegiate Athletics program, and in establishing, implementing, and interpreting the policies and procedures of the UCF Athletics Association Inc. (UCF Athletics). Participates in development and implementation of goals and objectives of UCF Athletics.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serves as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA - NCAA designation) as required for representation of UCF Athletics to NCAA and Big 12 Conference. As a member of the Big 12 Conference SWA Administrative Group, develops and recommends policies and procedures to the membership in the following areas: sports programs other than men’s basketball and football; equity and Title IX; and student-athlete welfare. Includes responsibility for managing regular season and championship issues for all sports other than men’s basketball and football.
- Oversees the management of the UCF Athletics’ Knight’s Leadership Academy (KLA), Student-Athlete Development, Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA), Sports Medicine, Mental Health and Performance, and Sports Nutrition departments in the development of student-athletes both on and off the field of competition, to include participation in the development, management and service as expenditure approver for supervised units. In this capacity, the position is also heavily engaged at a leadership level with related campus entities, contracted vendors and strategic partners, actively representing Athletics in the management of issues related to student-athlete health/wellness/welfare, student conduct, and Title IX.
- Responsible for the UCF Athletics’ gender equity program which includes program updates; preparation of materials associated with required UCF, State, Federal and NCAA reports; development and implementation of goals and objectives; and program audits.
- Participates in development of UCF Athletics’ budget and its components; has budget oversight responsibilities including those related to Title IX issues.
- As sport administrator for assigned sports, provides oversight, evaluation and following the department’s strategic plan and direction of a nationally competitive sports programs, with emphasis on staffing (coaches / administrators), budget development / management, scheduling and roster management, requiring attendance at home events, travel to selected away events, and attendance at Conference and NCAA tournament competitions. Includes participation in the development, management, and service as an authorized signatory on program expenditures as well as management of issues relative to student-athletes.
- Oversees the strategic scheduling and contract management (events) of assigned sports programs, including negotiation of terms / conditions (i.e., financial, dates, tickets, etc.). Ensures that the sports programs’ schedules provide programs with greatest opportunity for short-term / long-term success, while also direction and positioning for post-season play.
- Regularly meets with coaching staff and student-athletes of assigned sports regarding roster management and the on-going long-term development of program. Includes emphasis on issues related to student conduct, student-athlete welfare success, and coach conduct.
- Represents UCF Athletics and UCF to the NCAA, Big 12 Conference, other universities, Central Florida community, and the general public. Serves as liaison to various campus constituencies and serves on various campus committees as requested.
- Serves as a committee member to the Competitive Success Unit where you are an active participate in the governance oversite and advisory responsibility for Revenue Share for UCF Athletics.
- Oversight of related student services functions, which may include Drug Testing, Garvy Operations, Student-Athlete Housing, etc.
- Engages in fundraising and revenue generating opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years appropriate experience or;
- Master's degree and four (4) years appropriate experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Executive level experience within intercollegiate athletics with emphasis on student-athlete welfare
Due to the nature/scope of Athletics and Athletics events, position may require work during evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to stand / walk for extended periods of time.
