The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is looking for an hourly nutrition fellow to assist with our Football Nutrition Program. This is a temporary, hourly-paid position (1,000 hours total at $22.84/hour) that does not include benefits. Under the general supervision of the Director of Football Nutrition, the nutrition fellow will gain hands-on experience in Division I football/collegiate athletics. Their focus will be on sports nutrition operations, performance fueling, and education.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Football Nutrition, the nutrition fellow will provide the following services:

·         Oversight of football fueling station including inventory management, ordering, and procurement
·         Supporting practice and lift sessions with smoothie preparation, pre-workout station set-up, and recovery nutrition organization

·         Ordering catering/vendor orders as needed
·         Create informative and engaging nutrition education content
·         Assist in data collection and analysis as it pertains to sports nutrition
·         Meet with football student-athletes to provide individualized nutrition counseling related to training, competition, recovery, injury, illness, weight management, hydration, and travel
·         Oversee student/volunteer training, scheduling, and management
·         Assist in strategy planning for football fueling, nutrition services, and educational programming
·         Assist with game day nutrition; this position will travel with the team to all home and away games
·         Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Football Nutrition

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, exercise science, or related field
·         Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD-eligible with ability to obtain RD credential within 3 months of start date
·         Creative thinking and problem-solving skills with an innovative approach
·         Strong verbal and written communication skills
·         Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks at one time with limited supervision
·         Maintain a high level of professionalism 
·         Ability to work and collaborate as part of a team and across various departments
·         Ability to lift objects weighing 50 pounds regularly
·         Ability to work a non-traditional work week; including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

·         Master’s Degree in nutrition, exercise science, or related field
·         Previous experience working in collegiate football environment
