Job Summary
St. Thomas Aquinas High School is seeking a dedicated Junior Varsity (JV) Cheerleading Coach. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in cheerleading skills, with a focus on gameday cheerleading for JV football and basketball seasons. This role involves building a strong JV program that prepares student-athletes for the varsity level while fostering a positive team culture and school spirit.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Leadership: Lead all aspects of the JV cheerleading program, including tryouts, practices, and performances.
- Skill Development: Develop and implement training to teach and advance fundamental skills in stunting, tumbling, jumps, and choreography.
- Gameday Coaching: Create and coach spirited routines for gameday performances during the JV football and basketball seasons.
- Team Management: Handle team logistics, including scheduling, uniform distribution, and communication with athletes and parents.
- Safety: Ensure all practices and performances adhere to safety guidelines.
Mentorship: Serve as a positive role model and mentor to student-athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, academic achievement, and character development.
Qualifications
- Experience coaching cheerleading at the high school or competitive level is preferred.
- Knowledge of fundamental cheerleading skills, including stunting and tumbling.
- Strong interest in and knowledge of gameday cheerleading.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A passion for working with and developing young student-athletes.
