Course Description
Through online discussion in small groups, this course covers topics surrounding the use, application, and issues that arise with technology in sport and entertainment. Students will read articles, listen to podcasts, and watch videos to prepare to lead discussion on topics such as machine learning and AI, technology and fan engagement, blockchain, venue immersion, esports and the metaverse, broadcasting, streaming, cyber security, and sustainability. Through this content as well as weekly discussion on current events, students will gain a more thorough understanding of the technology that exists, its scope and limitations, and what technology is on the horizon.
