Course Description
In this course, students will learn about event design, planning, and management processes, and sustainable business operations consistent with facility and event management protocols and recognized standards. Students will understand the business case for sustainability not only through the community engagement aims but also through financial analysis of profit and loss elements of producing and hosting sport and entertainment events.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Identify and understand the role of events in economy
  • Differentiate types of events
  • Differentiate roles in the Sport and Entertainment event management industry
  • Prepare and present bid proposals for events, engage in a process of event selection, and write a clear mission, vision, values, and goals for implementation in a production meeting
  • Develop and implement basic operational plans
  • Establish and manage a budget including identifying revenue streams and costs
  • Formulate effective communication processes
  • Identify, hire, and supervise event personnel
  • Establish logistical plans including, site or equipment layouts, schedules and timelines, electronic communications, and information systems, etc.
