POSITION:            Communications Assistantship (Boca Raton Bowl)
DEPARTMENT:       Communications 
REPORTS TO:           Director, Communications
STATUS:                Temporary Full-Time, Non-Exempt (On-site)
 
SUMMARY:   This position is responsible for the media operations of the Boca Raton Bowl for which the Orange Bowl has been contracted to support. Additionally, it will support the Communications Department with duties as it relates to OBC programming and events.  
 
Salary: $2260 monthly /Duration: 4 months /Tentative start date:  Fall 2024
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Media Operations, Boca Raton Bowl:
  • Serve as general media contact for Boca Raton Bowl
  • Facilitate communication between OBC Communications department and Boca Raton Bowl staff
  • Serve as contact point for team, conference and FAU communications personnel 
  • Daily presence in managing media operations from team selection to game wrap up (Press conferences, credentialing, game week content distribution from teams, etc.)
  • Coordinate PR efforts for providing media with necessary content from both teams during bowl week
  • Manage all game day onsite press operations (seating chart, information distribution, postgame news conferences, etc.) 
  • Manage Boca Raton Bowl media email account
  • Creation and distribution of the weekly e-blasts, media advisories and press releases
  • Assist bowl staff with social media strategy, development and implementation 
  • Development of event-by-event media plans 
  • Support bowl staff at Boca Raton Bowl events
  • Development of press kits for Boca Raton Bowl press conferences 
  • Assist with development and implementation of ideas to increase Boca Raton Bowl’s presence in the marketplace
  • Work with ESPN PR Department on approval processes for Boca Raton Bowl and partner releases
 
Orange Bowl Department Operations:
  • Provide support for the coordination and dissemination of information for the Orange Bowl game and other Orange Bowl events
  • Responsible for attendance at designated OBC meetings, events and promotions
  • Support external communication to all media outlets and assigned bodies concerning OBC programming and events; encompassing areas of media/public relations, media operations and publication production
  • Inter-department contact for events, per assignment
  • Travel to OBC off-site events; including OBYFA weekend events, bowl week locations, among others
 
Media/Public Relations:
  • Contribute to community PR efforts, including the Orange Bowl Youth Football Alliance
  • Support day-to-day media tasks for the OBYFA and other assigned events
  • Create content for Web and social media postings
 
Publications:
  • Writing and editing of content for publications
  • Assigned tasks in the publication production
 
General:
  • Assistance on special projects
  • Assist with organizational long-term strategic analysis and goal-setting process
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree. 1+ year’s experiences or equivalent work experience    
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Photoshop, Publisher, and InDesign a plus
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and research matters.  
  • Attention to details as well as dependability  
  • Should have an interest in pursuing a career in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism
