About the Fiesta Sports Foundation

The Fiesta Sports Foundation is a world-class community organization, dedicated to providing premier college football bowl experiences and local events that serve as economic drivers for Arizona and provide charitable resources for our community. 
 
As a small nonprofit organization, we believe in the importance of fostering a culture of camaraderie, that values teammates and teamwork. Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Fiesta Sports Foundation hosts a variety of local events each year, as well as two elite bowl games, the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl held at State Farm Stadium and the Rate Bowl held at Chase Field. The Fiesta Sports Foundation has given nearly $32 million in charitable resources to the Arizona community in the last 14 years. 
 

Role Summary:

The Communications Manager is an at-will, exempt full-time position reporting to the Vice President of Communications, Media and Industry Relations and will work collaboratively within the department and organization to develop and coordinate the dissemination of the organization’s key messages to internal and external stakeholders, helping to increase familiarity with the Fiesta Sports Foundation, its mission and activities thereby enhancing the brand presence and visibility of the organization. 
 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Manage, develop and maintain communications content and production calendars, including website, social media, content creation and newsletters
·         Coordinate with senior leadership to ensure appropriate content and cadence of communications to key stakeholders, including Board of Directors, Yellow Jacket Committee, Ambassadors, volunteers and industry partners
·         Write, edit and distribute media relations collateral, including press releases, feature stories, media kits, alerts, fact sheets and postgame reports
·         Pitch and secure media coverage for assigned Fiesta Sports Foundation games and community events
·         Oversee website content and ensure regular updates are made to keep website timely
·         Assist in the creation and management of overall strategic communications plan
·         Oversee Rate Bowl and Fiesta Bowl media credential process, including accepting, denying, granting access and distributing
·         Assist with gameday media operations, including press box operations, statistics distribution, frequency coordination, ENG vest assignments, catering, signage and other game-related duties
·         Execute game program pagination and create content for publications
·         Administrative assistance with communications financial reporting and tracking
·         Oversee seasonal communications associate position, including hiring and managing the entry level position
 
Secondary Responsibilities

·         Coordinate photography and videography for games, community and organizational events
·         Produce and distribute internal and external promotional pieces
·         Create and maintain local and national media lists
·         Monitor reports tracking media coverage analytics and strategy for traditional, print, broadcast, and online conversation
·         Assist Fiesta Sports Foundation spokespeople with talking points and relevant information for interviews, public appearances and social media
·         Assist in organization of social media strategy, brandbook, planning and execution, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube, in conjunction with outside agency partner
·         Assist with media operations committee objectives, team captain responsibilities, volunteer responsibilities and shift assignments, committee meetings and communication with stakeholders 
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced writing skills with samples ready to present
  • Strong experience with work on multiple social media platforms, including analytics 
  • Experience working under pressure within tight deadlines
  • Video production and editing skills preferred 
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds repeatedly
