Job Summary
The Controller oversees all accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance activities for Clemson Athletic Properties Company. The role manages the general ledger, operational accounting activity, month-end and year-end close, and ensures accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP. The Controller leads the review of all contracts for proper revenue treatment in accordance with ASC 606 and partners cross-functionally to support operational decision-making. The role also ensures tax compliance for both 501(c)(3) nonprofit and for-profit reporting requirements.

The Controller leads the review of all contracts for proper revenue treatment in accordance with ASC 606 and partners cross-functionally to support operational decision-making. The role also ensures tax compliance for both 501(c)(3) nonprofit and for-profit reporting requirements.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Execute all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, including full ownership of ASC 606 revenue recognition policies, documentation, and reporting.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Lead the annual audit process and coordinate the preparation of audited financial statements.
Revenue Recognition (ASC 606)
- Lead the assessment, implementation, and ongoing application of ASC 606.
- Review contracts to determine appropriate revenue treatment and ensure consistent application across the organization.
- Partner with Sales, Legal, and Operations to evaluate contract terms and identify revenue implications.
- Prepare and maintain revenue schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Accounting Operations
Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.

- Process invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely payments
- Produce month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Implement process improvements to streamline workflows and strengthen financial controls.
- Monitor, document, and reconcile all Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreements and payments to ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory adherence.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.

- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and hands‑on experience with ASC 606.
- Demonstrated knowledge of tax compliance and reporting requirements for both 501(c)(3) non profit organizations and for-profit entities.
- Experience with Form 990 and UBIT.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
