What to Expect
The Chief Financial Officer “CFO” serves as a key executive partner in defining and executing the strategic vision of Army West Point Athletic Association “AWPAA”. The CFO provides fiscal leadership to ensure the financial sustainability, transparency, and operational excellence of a $54 million nonprofit enterprise. This executive will craft a long-term financial strategy aligned with AWPAA’s mission to develop leaders of character through athletic excellence, while implementing effective process improvements that enhance efficiency, accountability, and strategic decision-making across all departments.
What You'll Do
35% Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute a multi-year financial plan aligned with AWPAA’s mission and institutional priorities.
- Advise the Athletic Director and Board on strategic initiatives, long-term planning, and risk management. Provide financial analytics and scenario modeling to guide executive decisions.
20% Budgeting & Financial Management
- Oversee AWPAA’s $54M operating and capital budgets, ensuring fiscal discipline and strategic alignment.
- Lead forecasting, reporting, and analysis to inform decisions across all athletic programs.
15% Internal Controls & Compliance
- Ensure integrity of financial data, compliance with GAAP, NCAA, and Department of Defense standards.
- Maintain audit readiness and oversee ethical and transparent fiscal practices.
15% Sponsored Projects & Endowment Stewardship
- Manage donor funds, endowments, and grants in alignment with donor intent and institutional policies.
- Collaborate with Development and Alumni Relations to ensure stewardship and fiscal integrity.
15% Operational Leadership
- Lead and mentor finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Implement process innovations to enhance financial reporting and decision-making.

What We Can Offer
$150,000 to $160,000

AWPAA expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would AWPAA consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

The mission of USMA is "to build, educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to be commissioned leaders of character committed to the Army Values and ready for a lifetime of service to the Army and Nation." This position will be housed within the AWPAA, which is a non-profit corporation organized to manage and support the 30 intercollegiate athletic programs at the Academy. The AWPAA mission is to recruit, educate, train and inspire leaders of character who are committed to the Army Values through an extraordinary NCAA Division I athletic experience.
