Senior Associate Athletic Director
The mission of West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is to “Serve West Point and the Long Gray Line.” WPAOG is both the alumni association and foundation for the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. Our vision is to ensure the Long Gray Line remains the most highly connected alumni body in the world. USMA is renowned as the world's preeminent leadership development institution. The student body, or Corps of Cadets, numbers 4,400, and each year approximately 1,000 cadets graduate and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army.

Job Summary
(WPAOG) is seeking a Senior Associate Athletic Director to set the strategy and manage front-line fundraising for Athletics ($162M) as part of our 61-member Development Team. Reporting jointly to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and to the Vice President of Development at WPAOG, this executive position is responsible for securing major gifts (~$10M annually from a $1M+ prospect pool) and managing a front-line fundraising team of six people responsible for A Club ($7.5M annually) and sport-specific fundraising efforts for Army Athletics (at least $1M annually). Additionally, this position may also provide dotted-line oversight to staff members who work to support the Army Athletics revenue generating team through events and the administration of membership benefits.
The Sr. Associate AD will also serve as a member of WPAOG Development’s Senior Staff in order to maximize leverage and coordination of the Academy’s donor community. The incumbent also works closely and collaboratively with other members of the development team (in Prospect Management, Major and Leadership Giving, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Stewardship, Gift Processing, Reporting, etc.) as well as with key volunteer alumni leaders and natural partners who are engaged in the cultivation and solicitation effort. Finally, the Sr. Associate AD will also serve on the Army Athletics executive staff under the Director of Athletics.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. 
  • The incumbent must be goal-oriented and enjoy a competitive, but collegial, environment. 
  • The incumbent must be willing and able to travel extensively for meeting with his or her prospects and donors (at least 30% of time) and to be available for sports-driven or donor-driven weekend duty as required. 
  • Comfort with the use of Paciolian, Salesforce, and CRM software that tracks fundraising activities, as well as the technology that supports it, is a plus. 
  • The incumbent should possess thorough knowledge of fund raising or have relevant and transferable skills in a related field. Knowledge of capital giving programs and planned giving vehicles is desired.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required, with advance degrees a plus. 
  • Three to five years of experience in fund raising is strongly preferred.
