This position serves as the Guest Services Coordinator for the Student Activity Center and Venue Management, with responsibility for serving as a primary point of contact with guests and student staff to high quality experiences for all patrons. Additionally, this position provides oversight and supervision of 40+ student employees to ensure superior customer service, access, and daily facilities operations. Serves as the administrator on duty during (non-event) evening hours.

  • The Guest Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily function of the facility.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate 40+ student staff.
  • Oversee facility use and access, including providing evening and weekend supervision as needed.
  • Complete staff scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage for all operating hours of the Student Activity Center and Student Event Staff coverage.
  • Provide event support as needed.
  • Ensure safety and security of guests, staff, and facilities.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Serve as Administrator on Duty during (non-event) evening hours.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with University departments, including University Recreation, Athletics, Conference Services, Concessions, and other departments
  • Engage in the success of all team members.
  • Complete monthly payroll for student employees, tracking payroll expenses to ensure annual expenditures are consistent with the approved budget, and report to the Assistant Director of Events/Halton Arena.
  • Provide feedback for facility and risk management policies for SAC and Athletic Venues.
  • Ensure staff has been adequately trained on Emergency Response and Evacuation Plans for both daily and event operations.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
  • Experience in the area of Student Affairs, event management, or other related fields with a strong background in customer service, safety, and the student environment.
  • Experience with the hiring, training, and management of student staff and interns, requiring patience and adaptability to frequent changes in student staff scheduling.
  • Experience/knowledge in ADA, building codes, and/or crowd management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with, supervise, and lead a varied population.
