JOB SUMMARY:
The Utah Jazz are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Digital Content to lead the organization’s content strategy and distribution across digital channels. This leader will manage and develop a high-performing content team, strengthening the Jazz brand, creating short-form content, evolving its online voice, while driving fan engagement, audience growth, and business impact. This position will lead a content team who will manage event coverage of all Utah Jazz games and related events.
The ideal candidate is a creative, data-driven strategist with deep expertise in social media and digital platforms. They have a proven ability to maximize the impact of each channel, execute branded partner content, and grow audiences by delivering forward-thinking, platform-specific strategies that support revenue objectives.
Collaborating across departments, this individual champions best practices that lead to a relevant sports voice, compelling storytelling, engaging branded content, and measurable business results. Success in this role will be measured by the ability to expand the Jazz’s reach, cultivate new fans, and deepen the connection with our loyal audience through impactful storytelling. Leadership and development of the Jazz content team is equally important to this role’s success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define the overall vision, strategy, and roadmap for digital content development and execution.
- Lead content planning, including calendars and briefs, ensuring alignment and distribution across key stakeholders (broadcast, communications, PR, basketball operations, partnerships).
- Establish website content strategy and ensure all content is executed across the right channels in an intentional way within Jazz brand standards.
- Collaborate with marketing and analytics teams to track performance and optimize content.
- Build reach and scale with new audiences while deepening engagement with existing fans.
- Oversee Jazz social handles on a daily basis, including posting, responses, and community moderation. Direct and support comprehensive coverage of all Utah Jazz games and related events.
- Collaborate with corporate partnerships on sponsored content strategy, providing recommendations, approvals, and execution support.
- Consistently align content development with revenue opportunities and broader business goals.
- Must have deep knowledge of the NBA, players, coaches, and league storylines to keep content relevant and timely.
- Analyze the competitive landscape to identify trends and relevant technology, opportunities, and areas for expansion.
- Manage, develop, and inspire a forward-thinking content team, including talent such as podcast hosts, digital hosts, and writers.
- Provide mentorship and support to ensure consistent, high-quality output while fostering growth opportunities for staff.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing quick-turnaround projects and high-volume content needs.
- Forecast and manage the content budget.
- Anticipate and manage content-related crises with discretion and sound judgment, ensuring timely, accurate, and brand-safe responses.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of experience in digital content strategy and creation, with a proven track record of using content to drive brand and revenue objectives.
- 3+ years of experience managing talent and high-performing teams.
- Deep understanding of audience drivers, marketing channels, and how they intersect with content strategy.
- Strong grasp of social analytics tools and related platforms (e.g., Blinkfire, ScorePlay, StatsPerform, ClipPro, Greenfly, Asana).
- Deep knowledge of digital and social platforms, with expertise in understanding how best to leverage different types of multimedia to drive audience growth, engagement, and revenue impact.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and resolve complex problems in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Skilled communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire cross-functional alignment.
- Editorial eye for content quality across copy, visuals, and storytelling, with a commitment to innovation, industry awareness, and detail-oriented execution.
