Game Clock Operator - Jazz Youth Basketball
JOB SUMMARY:
The Utah Jazz Youth Game Clock Operator is an essential member of the Jazz Youth game day staff. This role is perfect for individuals aged 16 and older who are looking to gain experience in sports operations and event management. You will be responsible for managing the official game time and ensuring the accuracy of the scoreboard during youth basketball games, providing a professional and seamless experience for players, coaches, and families. Pay rate is $15/hour.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clock Operation: Accurately start and stop the game clock in accordance with official basketball rules and referee signals.
- Score & Foul Tracking: Maintain a real-time record of game scores and individual/team fouls on the digital scoreboard.
- Timeout Management: Monitor and track timeouts for both teams, alerting officials when a team has reached its limit.
- Possession Tracking: Manage the alternating possession arrow for jump ball situations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with referees and site supervisors to ensure game flow is maintained and any discrepancies are resolved quickly.
- Brand Representation: Act as a professional representative of the Utah Jazz brand by maintaining focus and a positive attitude during all games.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Basketball Knowledge: An understanding of the basic rules of basketball, specifically regarding timing, fouls, and timeouts.
- Focus & Attention to Detail: Ability to remain attentive for long periods in a fast-paced, high-energy gym environment.
- Reliability: Must be dependable, punctual, and able to commit to a schedule of games during the fall and winter seasons.
- Communication: Comfortable communicating clearly with referees and other game-day staff.
- Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to travel to various game sites across Utah.
SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT:
Season: Fall and Winter seasons.
Hours: Flexible hours, primarily consisting of evenings and weekends. Part-time.
Location: Various school and recreation sites throughout Utah.
