JOB SUMMARY:
Play a critical leadership role in driving financial health and operational success for assigned entities. This individual is responsible for owning the full P&L and business planning process, providing strategic financial guidance, and overseeing core accounting and reporting functions. The role requires a strong cross-functional collaborator who can effectively manage the close process, cash flow, payroll, debt, audits, and league reporting, while mentoring junior team members and contributing to overall business growth.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own the full P&L and business planning process for assigned entities.
- Lead annual budgeting and reforecasting cycles; ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and internal management reports.
- Build financial models and cash flow/working capital projections to ensure fiscal responsibility and stability.
- Partner proactively with department heads to drive profitability and support decision-making.
- Oversee timely and accurate month-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Lead the FloQast close process and ensure all reconciliations and reporting are complete and clearly communicated.
- Oversee accounting and reporting of all revenues and expenses related to assigned entities.
- Forecast revenue sharing, with a deep understanding of how financial performance affects league-related financial obligations.
- Ensure compliance with league (e.g., NBA) reporting requirements and manage all necessary documentation and submissions.
- Record payroll journal entries and manage confidential payroll processes, including cost center allocations and player/team contracts.
- Manage debt and ensure covenant compliance; prepare required supporting documentation.
- Serve as the lead for all internal and external audits, providing deliverables and updates to senior leadership.
- Mentor junior team members and interns; manage team performance and professional development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various business units to streamline operations and enhance value.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and team capabilities.
- Expected to work in-office approximately 4 days per week.
- Must possess or develop strong working knowledge of league and industry financial practices.
- Prepare and review journal entries and accompanying account reconciliations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA preferred.
- Great communication skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Prefer 5+ years experience in progressive roles in industry or public accounting.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
- This person must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
