JOB SUMMARY:

The Utah Jazz are seeking to hire a Basketball Communications Assistant for a full-time role running from November 2025 to July 2026. This position is an opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the professional sports public relations industry.
 

The role involves daily interaction with media members and various departments within the Jazz to support the team's overall public and media relations efforts. The position involves a heavy workload and unusual hours.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Jazz PR staff in all aspects of the team's public/media relations efforts.
  • Produce daily statistical reports and compile game notes. Copy all printed materials for Jazz game nights (game notes, rosters, stats, etc.).
  • Compile and distribute daily media report for Jazz management.
  • Prepare credentials and visiting media packets for each home game.
  • Set up media work areas on game days at Delta Center.
  • Monitor the media workroom pre and postgame to ensure proper distribution of scores and stats.
  • Assist with team publications (media guide, postseason guide, game notes, etc.).
  • Assist Jazz PR staff with media requests at practice and shootaround.
  • Help with the Salt Lake City Stars PR efforts, the team's NBA G League affiliate, and Utah Jazz Gaming PR efforts.
  • Assist with all Jazz media events (press conferences, media day, conference calls, draft workouts, etc.).
  • Assist with the creation of draft profiles in preparation for the 2026 NBA Draft.
  • Help with the PR efforts for the Salt Lake City Summer League.
  • Professionally handle confidential information and protect the reputation of the company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College graduate with a degree in a related field (Journalism, Communications/Public Relations, English or Sports Administration).
  • Must have at least one year of experience in sports communications or public relations at either the professional or collegiate level.
  • Must have a solid knowledge of the NBA, statistics, and basketball terminology.
  • Must have strong writing skills.
  • Must be proficient with Google Apps.
  • Must be detail-oriented.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally.
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess.
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
  • This person must be able to lift 20 lbs.
