The Utah Jazz are looking for an Art Director to join and help lead their creative team. Working under the direction of the Sr. Brand Director, this position will be responsible for spearheading strategy, concept, and design ideas, while assuring brand consistency while creating both digital and print-based graphics for the Jazz. Our ideal candidate is technically sound, passionate, hard-working and detail-oriented, and is knowledgeable in the latest trends and practices in graphic design. Each candidate must provide a design portfolio for review.

Primary Duties

  • Communicate and spearhead strategy, concept, and ideas in collaboration with the Sr. Brand Director, to help organization reach its goals
  • Assure brand consistency
  • Lead on multiple design projects, while helping to manage team of designers with wide range of skills
  • Understand process, be timely, and be succinct in feedback
  • Empower mid-level design leadership so they can run their verticals
  • Create digital and print-based graphics for the Utah Jazz and their properties
  • Contribute to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department in collaboration with senior management.
  • Be a student, be a teacher, be a leader

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in graphic design or related field
  • 5-10 years applied design-related experience, or a body of work that reflects an equivalent experience, including some prior management experience
  • Showcase decision-making, leadership, and planning skills
  • Web portfolio demonstrating strong skills in graphic design, branding, layout design, typography, photo editing, and print with attention to detail
  • Speed and proficiency with current Adobe Creative Suite on MacOS
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work well on quick turnarounds and short deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work nights and weekends


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate and express yourself both written and verbally
  • Must be able to observe, inspect, estimate and assess
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds
