Job Summary:
The Sacramento Kings are committed to innovation across all aspects of the business, with data-driven decision-making at the core. The Retail Analyst will play a critical role in driving insights and operational efficiency for our retail business, both online and in-store. This role combines traditional analytics with hands-on ownership of reporting, inventory management, and system integrations across platforms that support sales, inventory, and accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about leveraging data and technology to optimize merchandise sales and fan engagement.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Retail & E-Commerce Analytics:
- Maintain and enhance dashboards tracking in-store and online sales performance, including market share comparisons by product category (e.g., jerseys, hats, etc.).
- Conduct analyses of conversion metrics, retention trends, and purchasing behavior to inform merchandise strategy.
- Deliver ongoing and ad-hoc reports that guide leadership in daily decision-making.
System Integrations & Data Automation
- Build and maintain automations between retail systems (e.g., pushing product data between sales and inventory platforms).
- Serve as the internal expert on third-party retail data integrations into the team’s data warehouse, extracting insights using SQL and Tableau.
- Collaborate with Finance to strengthen integrations across sales platforms, inventory management systems, and accounting systems.
Inventory & Merchandise Planning
- Develop “open to buy” sheets to recommend purchase quantities by item for upcoming sales cycles.
- Monitor inventory levels and provide data-backed recommendations to ensure product availability while minimizing overstock.
- Automate delivery of game-specific sales and inventory reports to leadership.
Pricing & Strategic Recommendations
- Make strategic pricing recommendations based on market comparison insights and demand trends.
- Identify opportunities for new revenue growth across online and in-arena retail channels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Economics, Computer Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in an analytics or e-commerce operations role, ideally within retail, consumer products, or sports/entertainment.
- Hands-on experience with e-commerce sales platforms (e.g., Shopify), inventory management systems (e.g., Luminous), and financial platforms (e.g., Netsuite).
- Strong technical skills: SQL required; proficiency in Tableau or similar visualization tools; familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Zapier) preferred.
- Strong quantitative, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
Compensation:
The salary range for this full-time, exempt role is $70,000 - $75,000. Offers for this role will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided. Years of experience, skills, and other factors are considered when determining the salary offered. Total compensation & offer package will include the following:
