POSITION OVERVIEW
The Global Partnership Sales Director is responsible for generating revenue through strategic, multi-year corporate partnerships across the Sacramento Kings, Golden 1 Center, Sacramento River Cats, Athletics, and Sutter Health Park. This individual will identify, develop, and secure innovative partnerships that align with the organization’s brand values and deliver measurable value to partners.
Leveraging the powerful platform of a professional sports organization and a world-class arena, the ideal candidate will craft integrated marketing solutions that drive results for all stakeholders while enhancing fan experience and brand equity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development
Identify and prospect high-potential corporate partners across assigned industry categories through strategic outreach, networking, and market research
Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline of qualified leads to meet or exceed annual revenue targets
Create customized, data-driven partnership proposals that address specific business objectives of prospective partners
Conduct compelling presentations to C-suite executives and key decision-makers that effectively communicate the value proposition of Kings/Golden 1 Center partnerships
Negotiate complex, multi-year partnership agreements with significant revenue implications
Collaborate with legal, finance, and operations teams to structure deals that maximize value while ensuring operational feasibility
Relationship Management
Build and nurture strong relationships with prospects and existing partners through consistent communication and in-person engagement
Work collaboratively with Partnership Activation team to ensure seamless onboarding of new partners
Serve as a strategic advisor to partners, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance partnership value
Monitor partnership performance metrics and ROI to demonstrate value and strengthen renewal potential
Identify expansion opportunities within existing partnership portfolio
Strategic Leadership
Stay informed of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging partnership categories
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Content, Digital, Community Relations) to develop innovative partnership platforms
Contribute to the development of organizational partnership strategy and annual revenue projections
Mentor team members and share best practices
Represent the organization at industry events and community functions
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate partnership sales, preferably within sports, entertainment, or premium consumer brands
Demonstrated success in closing high-value corporate partnership deals ($500K+) and consistently exceeding sales targets
Proficiency in consultative sales strategies and navigating complex, multi-stakeholder negotiations
Excellent presentation skills with the ability to influence and engage executive-level decision makers
Exceptional relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external partners
Strong proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with sports partnership valuation methodologies and tools
Knowledge of digital media, sponsorship analytics, and methods for measuring partnership activation
Experience developing integrated partnerships that include naming rights, premium hospitality, media, digital assets, and community impact initiatives
WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical business hours with frequent evening and weekend work required during games, concerts, and other live events
Travel required approximately 25% of the time for client meetings, industry events, and select away games
Role is primarily office-based, with regular on-site presence at arena events and activations
Compensation:
Base Salary: $70,000 - $90,000
Commission: Unlimited earning potential
Bonus: Eligible for competitive team bonus pool
