Position Title: Communications Intern
Department: Corporate Communications
Reports to: VP, Corporate Communications
FLSA: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing a wide range of support to the Kings Corporate and Basketball Communications Departments in all areas including, but not limited to, monitoring media mentions, managing media lists, writing internal and external facing materials, assisting in media credential process and game night set up, running department-related errands, helping with special event planning, gathering research and performing some administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Track, monitor, and compile media mentions, create transcripts and media mention reports and maintain media lists.
Assists in writing internal and external communications including press releases, media advisories, newsletter and blogs.
Assist in credential process and game night set up.
Performs clerical duties (i.e., collecting messages, scheduling appointments, running errands, etc.).
Other various duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field preferred.
Must be able to work game nights, extended hours, days, weekends and holidays when necessary.
Excellent written communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining composure.
Must be goal, detail, and multi-task oriented with the ability to prioritize.
Service oriented; committed to teamwork and catering to the customer.
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with sensitive information.
To qualify for Kings University internships, you must be:
Currently enrolled in college or have graduated within 12 months
Able to commute to the downtown Sacramento office
Able to work up to 25 hours per week
Interns will be compensated $16.50 per hour and receive benefits such as California Paid Sick Leave, discounts on Sacramento Kings merchandise, and free parking.
