Guided by the Player 15 Group Values and Principles, the Total Rewards Analyst is a detail-oriented and people-focused partner who owns the day-to-day efforts of the organization’s benefits and compensation initiatives across all departments and teams (Suns, Mercury, Valley Suns, and PHX Arena). This People & Culture (P&C) role helps ensure each team member has an amazing experience, feeling the value of our total rewards program from when they are first offered a role and continuing through the lifetime of their employment. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Total Rewards this role will focus every day on educating, enrolling, and auditing our team members’ information across a full suite of total rewards offerings.
This is a terrific opportunity for a person who delivers exceptional attention to detail, and also brings a balanced, empathetic approach to their communication with a wide variety of stakeholders. Ideal candidates will be energized by the opportunity to forge relationships with our team members early in their tenure and build process efficiencies that enhance our programs even further. The initial focus of the role will require heavy emphasis on the Benefits programs, while building into growth and exposure to our Compensation administration.
What You Will Do:
Benefits Programs
Process administrative, training, and analytical tasks related to employee benefits programs, including:
- Delivering group presentations on the organization’s full total rewards program offerings.
- Educating individual team members on health benefits offerings and eligibility criteria.
- Enrollments during new hire, open enrollment, and qualifying life event instances.
- Terminations and COBRA processing due to separation or change in eligibility status.
- Auditing enrollments, terminations, and vendor reporting for accuracy.
- Coordination with team members to obtain dependent verification documents.
- Backup to Sr. Manager on 401(k) plan actions.
Leave & Disability Programs
Serve as the primary point-of-contact to submit and respond to claims involving Disability, Leave, and Worker’s Compensation programs.
- Issue documentation packets with pre-populated demographic information, including federal FMLA forms, insurance carrier claim forms, and internal reporting templates.
- Interact with carrier representatives to facilitate the follow-up submission of claim documentation and/or connect directly with impacted team members.
Scheduled Projects
Deliver against assigned major project initiatives on a semi-annual basis:
- Manage annual benefits Open Enrollment process from October through January.
- Develop and collaborate on communications plan schedule and implementation.
- Ensure 100% completion from all employees during 2+ weeks of active Open Enrollment period.
- Compile and review enrollment census data in advance of carrier submissions by end of November.
- Conduct post-implementation audits of all carrier enrollments by the end of January.
- Provide event management role for annual Wellness Fair in mid-summer:
- Establish schedule and external vendor participation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on communications plan and facility usage plans.
- Create activities to ensure employee engagement beyond simple participation during event activities.
Relationship Initiatives
- Maintain relationship with benefits broker to identify employee trends and escalate enrollment / eligibility situations when they arise.
- Collaboration with internal & external stakeholders on data integrity initiatives:
- Ensure accurate entry of benefits deductions in HRIS system for weekly Payroll processing.
- Conduct weekly invoice reconciliation & approval with Accounting department to ensure insurance carrier and other wellness vendor payments are made on a timely basis.
- Calculating and submitting funding to brokers or financial institutions for numerous welfare / retirement benefits each week.
- Contributing to periodic internal audit activities through report generation and review.
Compensation Activity
Support the organization’s Compensation Administration initiatives, including:
- Monitoring, reporting, and implementation of part-time team members wage adjustments in collaboration with P&C Business Partner team.
- Conducting compensation analysis to generate candidate offers for Talent Acquisition team.
Reporting and Analysis
- Provide tracking and reporting for all periodic Total Rewards functions with pass-through for Executive leadership team presentations.
- Collaborate with People Operations and leadership on the preparation of documentation around annual merit and bonus cycles compensation cycles.
What We Need from Our Analyst:
- Demonstrated skill in Business Acumen to connect task / process with program strategy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills – we live our principle to “Be Curious, not Perfect” but strive to minimize self-inflicted errors.
- Advanced analytical and mathematical skills to calculate complex functions involving employee wage determinations and high-dollar vendor funding transactions.
- This includes proficiency with keyboard shortcuts and 10-key capabilities to process and audit a high-volume of demographic entry requirements.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality and fundamental business reporting relationships.
- Ability to demonstrate consistent empathetic communication skills through in-person, written, and verbal interactions.
- Ability to balance work in a busy team environment while effectively completing independent assignments.
- Knowledge of data reporting principles, including generation, review, & analysis.
- Advanced skills with Excel to build and enhance reporting spreadsheets.
- Knowledge proficiency in other standard business software products including Word, Outlook, Adobe, and Slack.
- Ability to learn new and existing internal software systems for HRIS, Payroll, and Accounting functionalities.

Education and Experience
Ideal candidates will have existing experience and/or education in the following area:
- 5+ years direct benefits administration experience.
- 2+ years administration of Leave and/or Worker’s Compensation claims.
- 2+ years of experience with compensation administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or human resources.

- This role requires daily, on-site presence at the organization’s facilities, primarily the headquarters building. Occasional on-site work at the arena, practice facility, or unaffiliated outside locations may be required.
- The organization does offer a limited workplace flexibility program, but remote-first or hybrid schedule arrangements are not conducive to supporting our teammates in the execution of live entertainment events.
- Ability to adapt to occasional monthly variations in schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate based on the event calendar.
- Ability to transit throughout the arena and HQ for extended periods of time.
- This position works indoors, removed from extreme weather; exposure to weather is <5%.
- S-Sedentary Work – Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
- Must be able to execute a conversation both on the phone and in-person, with internal and external stakeholders varying from individual contributor to executive-level.
- Ability to Read, Write & Speak in English.
