A quick summary about the Systems Administrator role:

The Systems Administrator role is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on keeping enterprise systems secure, stable, and highly available across servers, storage, networking, identity, and cloud services. You will own alerts, incidents, and projects end to end, including troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, documentation, and disaster recovery readiness. The role supports a 24/7 environment with Tier 2/3 support, on-call duties, and occasional after-hours work. Occasional coverage of Tier 1/2 Helpdesk will be required as a backup to other staff.

Success in the role means delivering stable and secure systems, reducing operational risk, improving visibility and documentation, and driving meaningful modernization and resiliency improvements.

What the Systems Administrator will do:
  • Administer and maintain enterprise systems and infrastructure, including servers, virtualization, storage, network equipment, identity services, enterprise applications, and endpoint environments
  • Ensure systems are secure, patched, optimized, highly available, and properly managed through full lifecycle ownership including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning
  • Own continuous monitoring across infrastructure, SaaS platforms, and dependencies by responding to alerts, correlating incidents to root cause, and improving visibility through reduction of monitoring noise and gaps in ownership
  • Administer backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes, including validating backup integrity and executing recurring restoration and failover testing to ensure operational readiness
  • Lead and execute infrastructure modernization, optimization, resiliency, security, and compliance initiatives with clear ownership, accountability, defined outcomes, and measurable results
  • Identify and eliminate inefficiencies, legacy dependencies, and operational risk through standardization of systems, workflows, and documentation
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for infrastructure and escalated issues, serve as backup for Tier 1 support, and maintain system stability in a 24/7 production environment through on-call coverage and after-hours support
  • Configure, update, and audit domain services, network infrastructure (including VLANs, routing/switching), cloud networking, monitoring platforms, security tooling, and hyperscaler environments to ensure performance, connectivity, and compliance
  • Manage and support email security, gateway configurations, and delivery reliability across enterprise messaging systems
  • Support remote connectivity and secure access solutions, including SASE or equivalent technologies
  • Partner with security teams to participate in regular security and compliance reviews and remediation activities
  • Work independently and collaboratively to manage competing priorities, partner with vendors and third-party providers, and maintain accurate, actionable documentation for systems and processes
  • Deliver projects with full ownership and accountability, ensuring issues are fully resolved and not prematurely closed, with measurable improvements to systems and operations
  • All other duties as assigned.
