The 3-time WNBA Champion Los Angeles Sparks are seeking a Director, Integrated Marketing & Content to join their team! This position is responsible for the development, execution, and optimization of multi-channel marketing strategies that support key revenue goals across ticket sales, partnerships, merchandise, and community initiatives, while elevating the Sparks brand and driving fan engagement. This role ensures all marketing efforts—digital, content, advertising, and brand—work together seamlessly.
The ideal candidate is proactive, extremely organized, and execution-focused with a strong background in project management, digital marketing, advertising, and cross-functional implementation. This role ensures that all campaigns, content initiatives, and digital activations are executed efficiently, effectively, on brand, and on time.
This position reports to the Sr. Vice President, Marketing & Communications and provides leadership and oversight to the Digital Marketing Specialist.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Integrated Strategy & Planning
- Translate strategic objectives into cross-functional campaigns spanning digital, social, content, ticket sales, email, partnerships, community, communications, and paid advertising
- Develop cross-department plans supporting organizational priorities including ticket sales initiatives, community efforts, partnerships, brand campaigns, etc.
- Work closely with creative and content team to ensure deliverables, timelines, and resource needs are clearly scoped and supported
- Serve as the central connector between marketing, ticket sales, partnerships, and game operations to ensure unified goals and messaging
- Manage campaign reporting, gather KPIs across channels, and provide insights to improve performance, efficiency, and fan engagement
- Lead cross-functional meetings including campaign kickoffs, weekly marketing syncs, and post-mortems
- Serve as the primary point of coordination for tentpole moments (major theme nights, jersey releases, community campaigns), ensuring all departments remain on schedule and on brand
Marketing & Digital Strategy Oversight
- Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Specialist on the strategic direction of CRM/email communications, including segmentation strategy, lifecycle planning, and high-level messaging priorities
- Oversee the development of surveys and tracking of Sparks database results
- Oversee day-to-day operation of the Sparks’ official website, ensuring accurate, timely, and engaging content that enhances user experience and supports sales goals
- Place and track paid advertising campaigns across digital and traditional channels, ensuring alignment with marketing objectives and measurable ROI
- Partner with analytics and ticketing teams to measure campaign performance and refine marketing execution based on data insights
Content & Creative Management
- Ensure execution of integrated and connected content across social media, digital, video, in-arena, and broadcast platforms
- Maintain a cohesive and authentic brand voice that reflects the Sparks’ values and celebrates players, fans, and community impact
- Book contracted photographers, voice-over artists, and videographers as needed to support content production for home and away games and other initiatives
- Manage external creative and production partners to ensure delivery of high-quality, on-brand assets
Brand & Community Integration
- Serve as a brand steward ensuring consistency across marketing, partnerships, community relations, and game presentation
- Integrate community and social impact initiatives into the Sparks’ broader marketing efforts to strengthen fan and civic connections
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs):
- Timely and effective execution of marketing and content initiatives
- Growth in fan engagement, CRM database, website traffic, and digital conversions
- Increased ticket sales, merchandise revenue and successful partnership activations influenced by marketing campaigns
- ROI and performance metrics from paid advertising and digital initiatives
- Efficiency and accuracy in project management and campaign delivery
- Consistency, quality, and creativity in brand storytelling across all platforms
- Strength of internal collaboration and cross-departmental coordination
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong background in project management and implementation, with proven success executing complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Must have experience placing and tracking advertising campaigns across digital, social, OOH, broadcast, and/or print
- Demonstrated experience developing strategic plans, briefs, and campaign one-sheets
- Exceptional cross-functional communication, collaboration skills, and team leadership
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Strategic thinker with strong creative instincts and data-driven decision-making
- Experience booking and managing contracted creative talent (photographers, videographers, VO artists)
- Expertise in digital marketing, including email campaigns, paid advertising, and website management
- Excellent storytelling, writing, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in CRM systems, CMS tools, PowerPoint, and marketing analytics platforms
- Passion for women’s sports, empowerment, and community engagement
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field (master’s degree preferred)
- 7–10+ years of progressive experience in marketing, project management, plan building, digital strategy, and content execution/organization—preferably within sports with team or league experience
- Must have experience ensuring projects are completed on time and on schedule
- Experience placing and tracking advertising campaigns across digital and traditional channels
PREFERRED:
- Experience developing strategic briefs and multi-channel campaign plans
- Experience working within a sports team, league, or entertainment ecosystem
- Familiarity with Sparks brand values and WNBA/NBA digital and marketing standards
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Availability to work nontraditional hours, including game days, events, evenings, and weekends
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Requires on-site presence for Sparks games, activations, content shoots, and community events
Compensation commensurate with experience; minimum starting salary $105,000
