Marketing: Business Development
The Dallas Mavericks is currently seeking a VP of Creative to lead their talented creative department which includes Graphic Design, Digital Content (e.g. social media, mavs.com, etc.) and Game Day Experience (e.g. Photography, Videography, etc.) This innovative marketing leader has prior experience leading creative and digital programs for recognizable companies. 

The VP of Creative will be someone with a solid cross platform branding background and big brand marketing experience. We are looking for someone who has the proven track record of developing successful creative campaigns for major brands or through national or local ad agencies.  This individual has strong concepting abilities and a robust portfolio to oversee a multidisciplinary creative team. An ideal candidate must have a successful history of leading large cross-functional creative teams, mentoring, and strategic management skills.
 
Responsibilities
  • Leading and inspiring our creative, web development, and SEO teams
  • Oversees all creative aspects of designated account purview and works with the CMO in developing a creative strategy and then executing the tactics with the production teams to meet business goals and objectives
  • Ensures the proper Creative team is in place to manage the needs of the business appropriately
  • Works closely with all departments to ensure deliverables are being met
  • Oversees all program budgets ensuring budgets fall within MKTG financial targets
  • Approves organizational plan of Creative team(s)
  • Art directs, trains, mentors and develops Creative staff abilities and efficiencies with the intent of taking the best of all possible product offerings to market
  • Ensure Creative staffing falls within MKTG’s financial model
  • Collaborates with research and planning colleagues, account management, as well as, with creative studio/production to generate strategies and concepts to support the client’s business goals and objectives
  • Responsible for knowing and coordinating all issues related to the development of programming, concepts and marketing-driven solutions for clients
  • Pursues, supports and participates in business development opportunities on a proactive basis
  • Brings a demonstrated ability to model and execute consumer research, analyze findings into actionable, strategic content
  • Possesses the presence and experience to interface at the executive level, developing and maintaining client relationships and negotiating change within the business and within the brand
  • Has the ability, and passion to translate work with creative studio to oversee the visual manifestation of ideas and concepts
  • Owns strong communication skills: written, verbal, presentations
  • Possesses basic copywriting skills relevant to the articulation of marketing strategy and supporting content
  • Developing, creating, and implementing a dynamic global brand identity that is unique and sets the Dallas Mavericks apart in the marketing space
  • Translating marketing, creative, and strategic objectives into branded assets that drive prospect and customer engagement
  • Building a clear creative vision, with significant experience managing large-scale projects across multi-platform experiences
  • Partnering with the management teams across the business to understand the objectives and creative direction
  • Ensuring that the creative material produced is of the highest quality and represents a consistent brand image, message, and tone
  • Constantly tracking the ever-changing landscape of graphic design, development, and SEO; with the ability to see and predict future trends so the brand is always fresh, contemporary, and innovative

Skills / Qualifications
  • Proven track record of 5+ years successfully leading creative teams and executing exceptional creative/digital programs
  • Possesses fundamental understanding of market research and marketing strategy to partner with the CMO in order to develop marketing-driven solutions 
  • Ability to develop presentations with account teams that address overall strategy and tactical concerns
  • Ability to facilitate brainstorming sessions and workshops designed toward specific outputs and client solutions
  • Ability to perform a variety of responsibilities at the strategic and operational level
  • Proven expertise in contract negotiation, budget management, and ongoing vendor management
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and project management competencies
  • Deep experience with search engine optimization (SEO)
  • Ability to manage a varied workload of projects with many priorities. Prioritization skills will be key as the pace and scale of the workload rapidly change
