The Chicago Sky's Team Photographer is responsible for capturing compelling, high-quality photography that tells the story of the team, athletes, and culture—on and off the court. This role supports Marketing, Social media, PR, Corporate Partnerships, Community, Tickets and archival needs while helping to elevate the visual identity of the organization and the Chicago Sky brand as a whole.
Key Responsibilities
● Photograph all home games and select away games, including live action, bench moments, fan engagement, and behind-the-scenes content
● Capture practices, shootarounds, media days, community events, press conferences, and special appearances
● Create visually impactful imagery of players, coaches, and staff that reflects the team’s brand, values, and storytelling goals
● Deliver timely edits for real-time and same-day use across social, digital, broadcast, and PR platforms
● Collaborate closely with social media, marketing, design, communications, and video teams to meet content needs
● Maintain and organize a comprehensive photo archive following league and team guidelines (PhotoShelter)
● Ensure all photography complies with WNBA rules, credentials, and usage rights
● Manage equipment, workflows, and backups to maintain consistent quality and reliability
● Assist with creative concepts, campaigns, or branded shoots as assigned
● Identify, hire, and manage freelance photographers as needed
Qualifications
● 2–5 years of professional photography experience, preferably in sports, live events, or entertainment
● Experience working with professional or collegiate sports teams
● Strong portfolio demonstrating action sports photography and storytelling ability
● Proficiency with professional DSLR or mirrorless camera systems and Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Photoshop, Bridge)
● Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with tight deadlines
● Excellent communication and collaboration skills
● Demonstrates a strong drive for results, initiative, and positive attitude
