Position Overview
The Youth Basketball Clinic Coach for the Atlanta Dream’s Power Her Dreams initiative plays a vital role in inspiring and empowering young athletes through basketball. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching the game while fostering confidence, teamwork, and leadership in girls ages 6-14. Coaches will lead engaging drills, skills sessions, and competitions, creating a safe, inclusive, and fun environment that reflects the Atlanta Dream’s mission to uplift and empower women and youth both on and off the court.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with lead coaches and event coordinators regarding drills, games, and schedules.
- Deliver engaging basketball instruction through well-structured drills, skill development, and competitions for youth participants (ages 6–14). ‑structured drills, skill development, and competitions for youth participants (ages 6–14).
- Create a positive, empowering, and inclusive environment, teaching fundamentals, game strategy, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Ensure safety and professionalism, managing risk, supervising participants, and maintaining strong communication with players, parents, and staff.
- Collaborate with Atlanta Dream coaches, staff, players, and alumni to support high quality clinic experiences and smooth event operations. ‑quality clinic experiences and smooth event operations.
- Participate in required training, orientations, and meetings, and assist with other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma (or equivalent).
- 1+ year basketball coaching and playing experience with strong fundamentals knowledge.
- Experience working with youth (ages 6–17).
- Ability to attend camps/clinics in the evenings, and/or weekends
- Strong communication, professionalism, and punctuality.
- Able to follow structured lesson plans and lead groups confidently.
- Available Summer 2026 is a must
- Reliable transportation in greater Atlanta
- Must complete and pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, standing
- Must be able to lift up to 15lbs at a time
