Position Summary:
The Atlanta Dream is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our high-performance medical team. Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, this individual will play a key role in supporting the health, wellness, and performance of our elite athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing exceptional medical care, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-play support in alignment with league standards and best practices in sports medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
·       Assist in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses.
·       Provide on-site medical coverage for practices, games (home and away), and team events as assigned.
·       Collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer and team medical staJ to develop and implement comprehensive injury prevention and recovery programs.
·       Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with WNBA, HIPAA, and team policies.
·       Assist in the coordination of medical appointments, diagnostic imaging, and follow-up care with physicians and specialists.
·       Educate athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, recovery strategies, and general health and wellness.
·       Support the preparation and maintenance of the athletic training room, including inventory management and equipment upkeep.
·       Participate in team travel as required, ensuring continuity of care and player readiness.
·       Serve as a liaison between athletes, coaching staJ, and medical personnel to promote clear communication and timely updates.
Qualifications:
·       Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
·       Current BOC certification and NATA membership in good standing
·       Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Georgia.
·       Minimum 3 years of experience in athletic training, preferably at the professional, collegiate, or elite level.
·       CPR/AED certification required.
·       Strong knowledge of evidence-based injury management, therapeutic modalities, and rehabilitation techniques.
·       Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a high-performance environment.
·       Flexible schedule and ability to travel extensively during the season.
