Summary:
The Senior Director of Event Operations will provide leadership and direction to the Event Operations department.  The Senior Director will assist with planning, coordinating and facilitating the logistics of events within Fiserv Forum, Deer District and FMCW Sports Science Center.  The Senior Director will effectively interface with a variety of internal and external sources while building and maintaining strong relationships to produce successful events. 

Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee the workflow and processes for the event operations department to ensure a concerted focus on organizational efficiencies. The events department consists of: Director of Events, Senior Event Manager, (2) Event Managers and part-time production staff.
  • Knows and ensures all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Investigates, analyzes, and resolves event operational problems and complaints. Conducts periodic staff meetings to discuss procedures, problems, and policy changes.
  • Prepares cost estimates for all events as requested and monitors final billing.
  • Work with departments to ensure event costs remain under budget.
  • Delegate event coordination responsibilities and communicate event assignment information to event staff.
  • Work across departments to find ways to improve efficiency by combining resources for events.
  • Day to day involvement & assistance on internal/external meetings and all events with, Building Operations, Housekeeping and Event Operations, ranging from pre-space event cleanliness, event outlines and notices, space set-ups/breakdowns and more.
  • Lead production and operations meetings weekly to review past shows/events and review upcoming shows/events.
  • Create and manage the event operations yearly budget. Adjust as needed throughout the fiscal year.
  • Be the primary liaison between Fiserv Forum and I.A.T.S.E. Local 18.
  • Work in conjunction with the business agent of I.A.T.S.E. Local 18 to ensure the contract is being followed, find resolutions for issues before they arise, and ensure payroll is accurate on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Manage and adjust standard operating procedures for new hires for I.A.T.S.E. Local 18 and part-time production staff.
  • Works with direct reports to review scheduled events and troubleshoot potential challenges/conflicts.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty for assigned events.
  • Outline, Update and Enforce department standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee the event calendar, confirm and manage internal events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
This position requires a seasoned professional with energy, passion, entrepreneurial spirit, and the following: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a venue or high-volume customer service industry.
  • Work irregular schedule to ensure proper supervision of all events as described above and activities scheduled in the facility, as required. Work time periods (in addition to daytime periods) include approximately one hundred events per year that occur on nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills in which attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects on time and within budget.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate organizations in order to build relationships and garner support; ability to work collaboratively with cross functional work teams and to establish rapport with others; strong teamwork and synergy skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills. 
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, PP, Word), and MS Outlook.  Experience with CAD is preferred.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
