Job Title: Photographer/Digital Assets Manager

Department: Marketing

Reports to: Senior Manager, Brand Design

Manages: N/A

Collaboration: Daily collaboration with the broader Creative and Content team, Integrated Marketing, and Marketing Operations; Regular collaboration with leaders across the organization including Game Operations, Basketball Operations, Ticketing, Corporate Partnerships, Community, Communications, Facilities and HR.

Team Overview: Creative and Content is part of the marketing department, leading brand identity, visual design and art direction for the Los Angeles Lakers. The team is responsible for generating creative ideas and forming campaign concepts to achieve long-term and short-term business objectives, guided by the broader marketing team. The creative and content team designs and delivers creative stories and assets to serve a variety of organization needs prioritizing brand storytelling, fan engagement, broadcast support, corporate partnerships and season ticket members. This team is responsible for producing creative and editorial content daily during the season to tell the basketball story. Creative and Content also serves the broader business, supporting longer-term fan engagement, international growth, basketball operations, community programs, DEIB initiatives and internal employee programming.
 
Position Summary: 
The Photographer/Digital Assets Manager plays a key role in capturing and managing the visual stories of the Los Angeles Lakers. In this role, you will create compelling photography that reflects the team’s brand, players, culture, and experiences while supporting the creative needs of the organization across marketing, social, communications, and other cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for capturing, tagging, organizing, archiving, and distributing photo assets, ensuring the organization has timely access to high-quality imagery. This role requires strong creative instincts, technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-profile sports environment while maintaining a consistent visual standard for the Lakers brand.

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):

  • Assist in all photography needs for the organization
  • Photograph home games, practices, photoshoots, and company events (community or internal)
  • Photograph non-game events for Lakers departments — Global Partnerships, Community Relations, Ticket Sales & Operations, etc.
  • Go-to resource for all organizational photography needs, including fulfillment of internal and external photo requests
  • Work closely with the Marketing Department to identify best images and ability to edit and archive for use
  • Catalog/tag images from multiple photographers and organize/manage the team’s photo library by establishing and maintaining processes consistent with easy use and retrieval
  • Manage team’s photo library in an organized manner to allow seamless collaboration across all departments
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing department to execute visual goals for content and brand initiatives
  • Collaborate with Creative Team on visual brand direction for the season

Education: Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

Previous Experience: 

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a photographer within a collaborative environment
  • Minimum 1-2 years management experience overseeing junior members or other creative staff 

Technology Capabilities:

  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite; including Photoshop, Bridge, and Lightroom. Experience with metadata, photo logging, or digital asset management.
  • Project Management Software (Wrike, Trello, Asana, etc.)
  • Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Knowledge Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong experience in live sports photography with a passion for basketball
  • Experience setting up and executing photo shoots
  • Expert knowledge of Media Asset Management, such as Scoreplay
  • Knowledge of best photo tagging practices
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, engagement principles, and best practices, with a deep understanding of sports photography, social-first content, industry trends, and emerging techniques.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and can prioritize and multitask under the pressure of deadlines
  • Demonstrate discretion and good judgement in capturing behind the scenes content
  • Comfortable in fast-paced environments with the ability to adapt and problem solve
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism around athletes and coaches
  • You are upbeat in your work and have a strong positive attitude
  • Creative thinker who brings excitement and energy to each day on the job

Location: El Segundo (office M-F), downtown Crypto.com Arena (for home games)

Travel: Up to 15% of time

Hours: Regular office hours (9am-5:30pm M-F) plus additional hours as needed; must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays to complete deadlines as needed.

The pay range for this role is $70,000 - $75,000 annually. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications. In addition to those factors, we consider the relative pay of our current employees in similar positions when making a final offer.
