Player Operations: Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapy/Doctor
The South Bay Lakers are the official NBA G League affiliate professional basketball team of the Los Angeles Lakers. The organization is currently seeking a certified Athletic Training and Travel Associate to assist the Head Athletic Trainer in providing athletic training needs to the South Bay Lakers’ players for the 2018- 2019 season.  Candidates must be BOC certified and obtain a current CPR/AED certification.  
The seasonal Athletic Training and Travel Associate will assist the Head Athletic trainer with the daily prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of the South Bay Lakers athletes, and will work in collaboration with the Team Physicians, Strength & Conditioning Coach and Equipment Manager. Associate will also work with Manager of Travel Operations regarding travel logistics and potential changes.  This is a seasonal position, with a start date of December 1st.
Daily responsibilities include the following:
  • Treatment and rehabilitation of players 
  • Daily documentation of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation programs 
  • Inventory, ordering and restocking of clinical and clerical supplies
  • Assist with injury documentation utilizing Health-E Athlete
  • Communication with Team Physicians and Sports Medicine staff as needed
  • Assist with referee Athletic Training needs
  • Transportation of athletes to doctor’s appointments
  • Maintenance and upkeep of the athletic training room, and other sites as designated by the Head Athletic Trainer 
  • Liaison for the visiting team’s practices, shoot arounds, and game day needs
  • Travel responsibilities with the South Bay Lakers for away games as needed (transportation, baggage, per diem, rescheduling flights, rooming assignments, troubleshoot travel issues that arise on the road, etc.)
  • Assist with organizing and packing of all travel bags for away games
  • Manage team ticket inventory for players/coaches/staff/visiting team
  • Certification and good standing with the National Athletic Trainers’ Board of Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training
  • Currently CPR/AED certified
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matter involving the South Bay Laker players and organization
  • Ability to meet the working demands in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely matter
  • Strong computer and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training
  • Strong knowledge of various manual therapy skills
  • Experience working as a certified athletic trainer at the professional and/or Olympic level
  • Experience working with basketball athletes
