Job Title: Associate Manager, Social Media

Department: Marketing 

Reports to: Manager, Social Media 

Collaboration: Daily collaboration across the Integrated Marketing Team and with Brand Strategy, Marketing Operations and Creative and Content teams; Regular collaboration across the organization including Game Operations, Ticketing, Corporate Partnerships, Community and Communications

Team Overview: Integrated Marketing is the heartbeat of the marketing department, building seamless and connected pathways to fans to drive growth and engagement. Considering the full marketing mix with a spotlight on digital and social, the integrated marketing team is responsible for developing and executing detailed marketing plans, derived from Brand Strategy with support from Marketing Operations. As fan and channel experts, Integrated Marketing understands and implements the best ways to connect with fans based on campaign objectives.

Position Summary: The Associate Manager, Social Media is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the Los Angeles Lakers’ social media strategy across all platforms. This role focuses on publishing, copywriting, calendar management, and the development of platform-specific content with an emphasis on engaging, serialized storytelling. Working closely with the Creative, Marketing Operations, and Communications teams, this position ensures that all content is scheduled and aligned with the broader marketing strategy. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and detail-oriented executor who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the nuances of real-time sports content.

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):

Social Fan Growth and Engagement 

  • Own day-to-day social publishing, including copywriting, posting, scheduling, and monitoring mentions
  • Support paid social execution, including post setup and basic reporting
  • Maintain and update the social calendar in partnership with rest of team
  • Develop and execute platform-specific content strategies aligned with brand voice and creative direction
  • Execute content for priority social platforms with a focus on serialized content (IG, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
  • Collaborate with design and video teams to collect feedback, ensuring content is optimized and on-brand
  • Submit Wrike requests for assigned campaigns or evergreen content support
  • Provide support for partnership content
  • Provide social coverage at games, team events, and marketing/community activations
  • Collaborate regularly with Creative, Marketing Ops (MOPS), and Comms teams to ensure alignment across campaigns

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising or related field; advanced and continuing education preferred 

Previous Experience: 

  • Minimum 4 years in social media marketing 
  • Experience managing social content across platforms Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, YouTube 
  • Background in sports, entertainment, or event-based social preferred 

Technology Capabilities:

  • Project Management Software (Jira, Trello, Wrike)
  • Social tools such as Sprout Social and platform-native analytics 
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of asset design and production requirements across platforms
  • Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)


Knowledge, skills, abilities:

  • Excellent copywriting skills with a strong understanding of platform tone and trends
  • Hands-on experience publishing, monitoring, and reporting on brand accounts
  • Ability to manage timelines and contribute to collaborative planning across teams
  • Strong sense of visual storytelling and understanding of platform-specific content formats
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced, dynamic environment including nights and weekends during games/events
  • Clear communicator and effective collaborator across departments
  • Expert planner and collaborator who is proactive and can roll with the read and react nature of a team business 
  • Ability to bring innovative and creative activations to bear while working within mandatory parameters including league rules and short timelines 
  • Scrappy, nimble and comfortable managing effectively with changing information without getting stuck 
  • Detail-oriented and a logical approach to problem solving 
  • A passion for basketball and sports business 

 Physical Demands: N/A

Location: El Segundo (offices M-F), downtown Los Angeles (Crypto.com arena for Laker home games), other occasional off-site events

Travel: Up to 15% of the time

Hours: This position requires continual attention due to the perpetual nature of the NBA season; after-hours time is mandatory; must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.


The pay range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000 . Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications. In addition to those factors, we consider the relative pay of our current employees in similar positions when making a final offer.
