Job Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer 
Department: Athletic Training Room
Reports to: Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Sports Performance (DSP)

Qualifications (Required/Preferred):
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Athletic Training or other related field from an accredited university program; master’s degree preferred
  • Must possess current certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) preferred
  • Current certification in CPR/AED 

Previous Experience:
  • At least 3+ years of experience as an athletic trainer required
  • Work experience as an athletic trainer at the professional or collegiate basketball level preferred 

Position Summary: 
To assist with the supervision and coordination of the team’s overall sports medicine department, including, but not limited to: 
  • injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries
  • short-term and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries
  • player education and counseling of injuries and illnesses
  • consultation with and under the supervision of the DSP, Head Athletic Trainer, Team Physicians(s) and other qualified medical personnel

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities): 
  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the prevention and care of athletic injuries and illnesses, evaluation of athletic injuries, communication of information among the Performance Staff members, coaches, medical personnel; and education and counseling players regarding their injuries/illnesses. 
  • Assist in evaluating the integration of sports science and technology, in collaboration with the Performance Staff
  • Manage medical and training room supplies and inventory 
  • Assist in referral and appointments to team physicians
  • Input and complete accurate and timely player documentation 
  • Oversee medical coverage of the NBA officials on game nights
  • Collaborate with all Performance Staff and medical personnel as needed to conduct and evaluate NBA Prospects via Pre-Draft Testing
  • Attend training camp, all practices, all home and away preseason, regular season and playoff games
  • Attend daily Performance Staff meetings
  • Maintain a clean and safe training room
