General Description:
This position provides IT support for Houston Rockets and Toyota Center business operations during pre-event, live event, post-event, and normal business hours. Support will include desktop systems, network connectivity, VOIP devices, and other event related technologies. The role requires adaptability, hands-on technical skills, and a commitment to the One Team philosophy. In addition to general support duties, team members will contribute to special projects based on their technical strengths and evolving organizational needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Take accountability for completing setup, support, and breakdown tasks thoroughly and on time, owning any challenges that arise.
  • Prioritize customer focus by ensuring statisticians, media, and staff have the tools and connectivity they need to succeed.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, pitching in where needed to meet shared goals in a fast- paced environment

Event and Game Setup
  • Install and manage Ethernet cabling to ensure reliable wired connectivity at workstations, media areas, and the scorer’s table.
  • Set up event-specific hardware including laptops, VoIP devices, league-issued equipment, and network switches (no advanced configuration required).
  • Perform basic system checks and cable management tasks to ensure readiness before each game and event.
  • Transport, lift, and position equipment, at least 40 pounds, as needed for setup and breakdown.
  • Work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced sports and entertainment environment.

Event and Game Support
  • Provide on-site IT support during games and events, including troubleshooting basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Ensure reliable connectivity for event operations, including league staff, third-party vendors, and arena systems such as concessions and point-of-sale.
  • Address printer issues (e.g., driver setup or connection troubleshooting) on supported laptops.
  • Deliver quick, practical solutions to maintain uninterrupted operations throughout events.

Breakdown and Equipment Care
  • Confirm that all equipment is in working order and report any damage or missing items.
  • Safely power down and pack equipment post-event, including cables, laptops, network gear, VoIP devices, and printers.
  • Ensure all equipment is accounted for, neatly organized, stored securely before departure.

Project-Based Work
  • Assist with special IT initiatives beyond day-to-day event support.
  • Prepare and deploy new equipment, document workflows, or help improve arena tech systems.
  • Apply  technical strengths to support day-to-day operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • IT skills as needed by current One Team technology systems
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 40+ pounds
  • Flexible ability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift, transfer, and move equipment as needed.
  • Able to read and process written and electronic materials in both digital and physical formats.
  • Adaptable to changing work hours, locations, and event demands.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills essential for effective collaboration.
