General Description:
The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and continuous improvement of the enterprise network infrastructure. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of network systems across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in network architecture, security, and troubleshooting, and will proactively contribute to technology planning and modernization efforts.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure including routing, switching, gateway configuration, VPN, and internet access.
- Administer and maintain network systems including LAN/WAN architecture, inter-VLAN routing, multicast protocols, and IP addressing/subnetting.
- Configure and monitor firewall logging, DMZs, and related security policies.
- Manage and maintain Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls, including architecture, policy enforcement, and remote access technologies (IPsec and SSL VPN).
- Utilize network analysis tools such as Wireshark, Packet Sniffer, Packet Tracer, and GNS3 for diagnostics and performance optimization.
- Monitor network/system performance metrics and service levels to ensure alignment with business standards.
- Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues across networked systems.
- Roll out hardware and software to optimize resource deployment and ensure system integrity.
- Document network architecture, configurations, and changes to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to team members on complex network issues.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends through ongoing research and professional development.
- Implement and enforce functional policies and procedures related to network architecture, standards, procurement, and service delivery.
- Ensure robust support processes are in place and maintained across the IT team.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Required
- Proven experience in enterprise network administration and engineering.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls.
- Proficiency in IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and multicast protocols.
- Experience with VPN technologies, DMZ configurations, and network security policies.
- Familiarity with network simulation and diagnostic tools (Wireshark, Packet Sniffer, Packet Tracer, GNS3).
- Solid understanding of LAN/WAN architecture and documentation best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Ability to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP or equivalent.
- Experience in cloud networking and hybrid environments.
- Knowledge of automation and scripting for network tasks (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Familiarity with network monitoring platforms and SIEM tools.
