General Description:
The Retail Operations Intern will serve as support to the retail team while learning all functions inside the retail department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Retail Director in the development of programs designed to increase sales.
  • Develop marketing plans for, but not limited to, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, email while working with internal marketing department.
  • Work Rockets games at Toyota Center to learn the duties of the Team Shop Coordinator.
  • Shadow the Retail Operations Coordinator responsible for warehouse operations to understand product receiving and movement throughout the arena.
  • Participate in merchandise vendor meetings with the department buyers to learn the process behind buying.
  • Assist in processing of internet sales and learn aspects of the management of the retail website with the eCommerce Coordinator.
  • Responsible for general office tasks such as accounts payable, processing invoices/accounting, answering the switchboard, filing, faxing, copying, etc.
  • Assist the director, manager, or supervisor on other projects as needed.
  • Receptionist training and other special projects as outlined by the Houston Rockets & Toyota Center internship program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • College student, junior or senior with a business, retail or related major.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication.
  • Eager to have a strong desire to acquire new knowledge and skills.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format. 
  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
  • The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
