General Description:
The Community Relations Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the Houston Rockets' commitment to creating meaningful community impact. This highly collaborative, hands-on position supports the planning, coordination, and execution of community programs, outreach initiatives, player appearances, corporate partner activations, volunteer projects, and special events throughout the Greater Houston area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary coordinator and day-to-day account manager for assigned community programs, overseeing planning, logistics, communications, Marketing Associate recruitment and implementation, data tracking, and post-event reporting to ensure successful execution and measurable impact.
  • Coordinate program timelines, work with team to develop collateral and communications, recruit schools and nonprofit partners, maintain participant relationships, and monitor program outcomes to support departmental goals.
  • Support the development and evolution of community initiatives by researching best practices, identifying opportunities for innovation, and contributing creative ideas that enhance community impact and align with organizational and corporate partner objectives.
  • Execute all aspects of community events, player appearances, volunteer projects, and special initiatives, including event planning, logistics, staffing, vendor coordination, set-up, breakdown, and post-event follow-up.
  • Support all game-day community activations, including the Rockets Give Back Table, 50/50 Raffle, honorary recognitions, and other in-arena programming.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with nonprofit organizations, schools, community groups, civic leaders, and charitable organizations that support the mission of the Houston Rockets and Clutch City Foundation.
  • Manage incoming donation requests, fulfillment processes, inventory tracking, and distribution of donated items while ensuring timely communication with requesting organizations.
  • Oversee the organization, cleanliness, inventory, and operational readiness of community storage areas, event materials, promotional items, and program equipment.
  • Coordinate logistics for player and mascot appearances, autograph signing sessions, and community engagement opportunities as assigned.
  • Assist in identifying new community partnerships and outreach opportunities that advance the organization's strategic priorities.
  • Support departmental initiatives, cross-functional projects, and organizational priorities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Continuously evaluate processes and recommend efficiencies that improve execution, organization, and the overall effectiveness of the department. We value team members who think proactively, identify solutions, and contribute new ideas—not simply complete assigned tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience in community outreach-related role, program development, event management and/or non-profit relationship building.
  • Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, marketing, public relations, communications, or skills-related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively internally as well as externally.
  • Demonstrates the ability to manage a variety of programs and activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work cross-departmentally.
  • Must be focused, organized, and detailed with the ability to effectively work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, connect with others.

  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
  • The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
