JOB SUMMARY:

 

Reporting to the 'Sr Director, Youth Basketball Operations', the 'Summer Temporary Assistant, Youth Basketball Operations' will assist the Youth Sports Team in the areas of event coordination and execution, coaching and mentoring children ages 4-14, and behind the scenes daily business operation tasks. Seeking a member of the team who values providing a safe and enjoyable basketball experience, while also instilling a love of the game in each athlete at a young age.

 

** This is a temporary position from June 8th – August 28th 2026, that will require working in-person roughly 40 hours per week. 

 

** Seeking candidates residing local to Cleveland, OH.

 

PAY RATE: $15.00/HR.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Serve as on-site event lead for Cavs Academy, Cavalittles, Jr. Cavs, and community programs as assigned.
  • Provide on-court instruction for youth ages 4 – 14.
  • Assist with the set-up, execution and tear-down of Cavs Academy and Cavalittles camps and clinics.
  • Manage inventory in Cavs Academy storage facility; provide weekly updates to team and make recommendations for replenishment when needed.
  • Provide support in organizing, preparing and packing the vehicle(s) for upcoming camps and clinics.
  • Help with check-in, wristband distribution, and other tasks as needed on-site for camps and clinics.
  • Provide customer service support to all parents, children and spectators.
  • Collect on-site feedback from parents and encourage completion of event feedback survey.
  • Serve as overall support to event execution and serve as point person when required.
  • Source new youth basketball contacts in the community and work to forge new relationships with facilities and coaches.
  • Provide feedback on current programs and innovative ideas for new ones.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently attending (or recent graduate of) a 4 year Bachelors Degree program, preferably with an emphasis in sports management, education, business administration, or a related field. 
  • In-depth knowledge of basketball skills and terminology.
  • Experience working with youth, preferably in a coaching capacity.
  • Dynamic leadership capabilities and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple daily tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Punctual, reliable and organized.
  • Effective Communicator with a high level of emotional intelligence and empathy.
  • Eager to learn the business side of the sports industry.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office platforms).
  • Evening and weekend work will be required; some overtime may be required.
  • Car and valid driver's license required for transportation to off-site events.
  • Some out-of-market travel may be requested.
