Senior Manager of Building Security
Position Overview
Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is seeking a Senior Manager of Building Security to oversee full-time and contract security personnel, ensure a safe and secure environment for HSE team members and guests, and support the organization through proactive risk management, investigations, and emergency preparedness. This role is also responsible for leading and managing the security program for the new Novant Health Performance Center. The position requires strong leadership, operational oversight, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to uphold best-in-class security standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the security program for the Novant Health Performance Center, ensuring safety and operational excellence.
- Lead, supervise, and develop full-time building security staff, including scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
- Manage third-party security vendor relationships, including contract management and service delivery.
- Conduct and oversee investigations related to security incidents, policy violations, performance challenges and other matters as needed.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve security policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to incidents, training, and compliance.
- Lead onboarding and training programs for security personnel, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute emergency preparedness drills and exercises; ensure readiness for various emergency scenarios.
- Partner with internal stakeholders including basketball operations, facilities, HR, and executive leadership to align security strategies with organizational needs.
- Ensure compliance with NBA guidelines, local regulations, and organizational policies.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the security team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in security management
- Demonstrated experience managing security personnel and third-party vendors.
- Proven ability to lead investigations and handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing environments and priorities.
- High level of flexibility, adaptability, and sound judgment under pressure.
- Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Knowledge of emergency preparedness, incident response, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Proficiency with security systems, reporting tools, and standard office software.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and events as required.
- Physical ability to patrol facilities and respond to incidents as needed.
