HSE is looking for a Marketing intern within the Consumer Engagement department. The Marketing Intern will support Consumer Engagement in the areas of event presentation, fan experience, retail marketing, internal and external client communication, as well as the organization and system management of important department documents and processes.

This is a paid, in-person internship. Each intern will be paid $15.00 per hour, with the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours, maximum of 30 hours per week. The Season 2026-2027 program runs from September 7, 2026 - April 23, 2027.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research industry trends and marketing tactics.
  • Compile research for ticket promotions and target audiences.
  • Assist with planning and execution of community and promotional events.
  • Assist with setting up fan giveaways.
  • Maintain and update department calendars and internal files.
  • Support marketing efforts for Hornets Hoops youth basketball clinics and camps.
  • Assist with various HSE events, including internal staff and community initiatives.
  • Assist with department inventory management (e.g., office supplies, giveaway items, etc.)
  • Perform administrative tasks as required, such as meeting recaps, scheduling, filing, and  preparing VIP gifts.
  • Participate fully in the internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadow opportunities, and the intern project.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by manager

Required Skills, Experience and Abilities

To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following:

  • Currently pursuing or having completed a bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field or equivalent relevant experience preferred
  • Male collegiate basketball players must have exhausted their NCAA eligibility before participating in the HSE internship program.
  • Demonstrated interest in marketing, retail, hospitality, or event management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; detail oriented.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to interact across organizational levels.
  • Ability to adapt to change, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Availability to work Hornets home games, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • General knowledge of basketball and the NBA preferred.
