In addition to Charlotte Hornets basketball, Spectrum Center serves as a premier venue for concerts, family shows, and major sporting events. HSE is committed to positively impacting the Charlotte community by fostering connection, inclusion, and engagement through sports and live entertainment.

The Community Impact intern will serve as support and administrator to the department by assisting with day-to-day and long-term community initiatives. The intern will also gain hands-on experience planning and executing major events, maintaining community/corporate partnerships, and working with the charitable foundation of the Charlotte Hornets.

This is a paid, in-person internship. Each intern will be paid $15.00 per hour, with the ability to work a minimum of 20 hours, maximum 30 hours per week. The 2026-2027 season program runs from September 7, 2026 - April 23, 2027.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take role in planning and coordinating community initiatives including but not limited to Cornucopia, NBA Season of Giving, Black History Month, Military Care, hospital visits and game day donation drives.
  • Database management of donation requests and autographed memorabilia inventory
  • Assist with coordinating player appearance and fan experiences
  • Assist with all Charlotte Hornets Foundation fundraising activities and events including, but not limited to, silent auctions, raffles, and merchandise sales
  • Participate fully in the internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadow opportunities, and the intern project.

    Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

    To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following:

    • Passion to work in the sports industry and community outreach is preferred
    • Solution-orientated, highly motivated, and proactive self-starter who works well as both team member and individual contributor
    • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required
    • Ability to successfully multi-task and maintain organization
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
    • Availability to work Hornets home games, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
