The Greensboro Swarm (GSO), member of the NBA G League, affiliate of HSE, is seeking a Communications and CSR intern who works with all departments for philanthropic events, while focusing on new opportunities to engage the public, season ticket members, corporate partners and other stakeholders. This intern reports to the Manager of Communications & CSR, GSO but has the independence to lead projects that occur on and off the court.

This is a paid, in-person internship based in Greensboro, NC. Intern will be paid $15.00 per hour, with the ability to work thirty (30) hours maximum per week. The 2026-2027 season program runs from September 7, 2026, through April 23, 2027.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist communications and public relations efforts, including the production of game notes, credential distribution and the development of media pitches.
  • Play role in planning, facilitating and executing the team’s community outreach efforts.
  • Assist in identifying local nonprofit organizations and community groups for community engagement initiatives and ticket distribution opportunities.
  • Help in planning and executing CSR initiatives, including volunteer programs, charitable partnerships and community outreach events.
  • Operate as a member of the team statistics crew during all home contests, serving as a live-stat inputter and assisting with the preparation and updating of game notes for select games.
  • Research and analyze CSR trends, best practices and potential partnerships to enhance the company’s social impact strategy.
  • Collaborate with marketing and PR teams to develop content that highlights corporate social responsibility efforts.
  • Provide general administrative support for CSR and communications projects as needed.
  • Participate in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadowing, and working on an intern project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities

To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate the following:

  • Possess a passion for meaningful interactions with the Greensboro community.
  • Male collegiate basketball players must have exhausted their NCAA eligibility before participating in the HSE internship program.
  • Prior experience with Adobe InDesign preferred.
  • Able to work independently with a proactive and solution driven mindset.
  • Prior experience in collegiate or professional sports information or nonprofit work preferred.
  • Experience working with clients in a creative environment.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in contributing to projects that support local nonprofits.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize tasks when given clear goals and objectives.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
