SUMMARY
The Senior Coordinator of Communications for Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE) will play a key role in supporting communications efforts across BSE’s sports, entertainment, and corporate platforms. This individual will contribute to a wide range of initiatives including basketball public relations for the New York Liberty, internal communications for BSE, and event communications for Barclays Center.
This position will support New York Liberty basketball PR through media operations, press materials, credentialing, and storytelling efforts that elevate the team’s presence locally and nationally.
The Senior Coordinator will also assist with internal communications across BSE by drafting organizational messaging, supporting employee engagement initiatives, and coordinating corporate award submissions that reinforce BSE’s culture and brand identity.
In addition, the Senior Coordinator will contribute to communications efforts for Barclays Center concerts and events, including media support, logistical coordination, and onsite staffing to ensure seamless representation of the venue across a diverse slate of live entertainment.
The Senior Coordinator will report to the Director, Internal Communications for BSE.
JOB DESCRIPTION – WHAT YOU WILL DO:
New York Liberty
- PR Logistics Lead
- Oversee credentialing process for all New York Liberty games and events.
- Manage New York Liberty PR game night staff and administrative processes.
- Create and distribute team’s weekly media schedule.
- Assist with all practice and gameday media availabilities at Barclays Center.
- Organize all home press conferences and media interviews.
- Travel to select away games and league events.
- Media Relations Support
- Serve as an on-site liaison for media during games, practices, and team events.
- Staff player interviews and community events throughout the year.
- Provide on-site assistance for both media and internal spokespeople.
- Liberty Communications Writing
- Draft and edit press releases, media advisories, and other communications as needed.
- Ensure all written materials adhere to AP style and organizational standards.
- Contribute to storytelling initiatives and help shape narratives across Liberty platforms.
- Support with game notes and departmental award campaigns, as needed.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Support additional functions such as community outreach, corporate initiatives, and special events.
- Work closely with marketing, partnerships, ticketing, and basketball operations teams to ensure alignment on messaging.
Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment
- Internal Communications
- Help maintain internal communications editorial calendar and draft content for weekly communications (newsletter, Slack, etc.) and communications campaigns.
- Work cross-functionally with business partners throughout the organization to draft employee-facing messages and communications plans.
- Assist with semiannual updates for BSE’s OUR WHY mini book and help embed the company’s mission, goals and values throughout internal communications.
- Draft content for BSE’s LinkedIn pages and partner with page managers across the organization to coordinate posts.
- Support ongoing updates on BSE’s intranet (Slack) and company website.
- Coordinate monthly Community Relations recaps and support the development of annual reports in partnership with the Community Relations team.
- Manage weekly PR recaps and internal processes.
- Assist with BSE’s Employee Recognition Program by developing content for employee features/spotlights and supporting internal nomination processes.
- Support with logistics and content for employee events including quarterly Town Halls, company-wide meetings, and employee recognition events.
- Maintain annual industry awards calendar and submission/event/budget tracker.
- Support drafting awards submissions across BSE properties.
- Event Communications
- Manage internal concerts and event staffing calendar.
- Oversee media onsite at events, including concerts, college basketball, boxing, and family entertainment.
- Oversee promoter relations and coordination for concerts.
CANDIDATE PROFILE – WHO YOU ARE:

- Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor of Arts degree preferred;
- 2-3 years’ experience working within similar role;
- Previous PR experience with sports brands/teams preferred.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong writing skills and AP style proficiency;
- Generate story ideas and the ability to make them interesting to media;
- Experience pitching stories of all types to a wide selection of media outlets, and working with reporters/editors/producers;
- Media contacts and ability to identify new media outlets regularly;
- Knowledge of key players in the sports and entertainment industry, and how industry news directly or indirectly affects the business;
- Creative thinking and idea generating;
- Communication skills, both internally and externally;
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including the media, sponsors, and programming partners, with diplomacy, flexibility and focus;
- Ardent and proactive approach;
- History of successful media placements;
- Knowledge of New York, sports, business and national media, and the ability to generate coverage;
- Team player attitude;

COMPENSATION
$69,000 - $83,000 base salary
