SUMMARY
We are seeking a Public Relations Manager to serve as a press liaison for the Brooklyn Nets. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, enthusiastic, creative Communications professional with an understanding of the media landscape, ability to bring big ideas to the table, and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. You will be responsible for pitching and placing stories, writing press releases, and curating and strengthening relationships with media in order to increase exposure for the teams in the consumer and corporate worlds. The Manager will also be responsible for serving as a primary media contact onsite for a variety of events, including all Brooklyn Nets home games; this position requires to work hours on nights, holidays and weekends as needed.
The Public Relations Manager will report to the VP of Public Relations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Drive proactive media opportunities from ideation through pitching and full execution, aligning narratives with team strategy and brand voice
- Serve as a primary liaison for print, broadcast and digital media outlets covering the Nets and manage media request fulfillment
- Ideate team/player internal and external storytelling opportunities
- Lead media logistics for practices, shootarounds and game-day operations, ensuring smooth access and professional representation
- Represent the team’s public relations interests during player appearances, fan events and community initiatives
- Plan and execute press conferences, media events and public relations activations in coordination with internal and external stakeholders
- Supervise press room operations and manage game-night staff
- Lead and oversee credentialing process for full-season and single-game media access, ensuring compliance with league standards and security protocols
- Compose and edit official press releases, media statements and other external communications
- Serve as a writer, editor and lead contributor to the team’s annual media guide and postseason publications
- Develop and maintain biographical content for players, coaches and staff
- Collaborate in the creation and timely dissemination of game notes and official statistical materials throughout the season
- Maintain comprehensive archives of team and player statistics, providing insights for historical reference and current analysis
- Manage content updates for the team’s dedicated media website
- Coordinate with visiting team PR representatives to meet all professional and logistical needs during home games
- Deliver strategic research and statistical analysis to support basketball operations and senior leadership
- Oversee the media monitoring and daily clips process, ensuring timely internal distribution and insight reporting
- Monitor social and traditional media trends to inform messaging, reputation management and engagement strategy
- Collaborate with Long Island Nets PR to align on team and player communication efforts

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
- Minimum 3–5 years in sports communications (team, league, agency)
- Proven experience managing high-profile press events, media logistics and credentialing processes
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong grasp of AP style and sports terminology
- Demonstrated ability to develop compelling narratives, press materials and branded content
- Proficient knowledge of NBA operations, league protocols and game-related procedures (preferred)
- Existing media relationships both inside and outside of the NBA
- Extensive knowledge of sports media landscape and experience working with both traditional and non-traditional outlets
- Available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays during the season

SALARY
$85,000 - $100,000 base salary
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works primarily in an office environment but is expected to work all Nets home games and practices, which include nights, weekends and holidays.
Travel Requirements: Frequent Traveler (30-40% travel): The incumbent may be required to travel outside of the New York City area for road games and league events. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
