SUMMARY

We are seeking a Public Relations Coordinator to serve as a press liaison for the Brooklyn Nets. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, enthusiastic, creative Communications professional with an understanding of the media landscape, ability to bring big ideas to the table, and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills. You will be responsible for pitching and placing stories, writing press releases, and curating and strengthening relationships with media in order to increase exposure for the teams in the consumer and corporate worlds. The Coordinator will also be responsible for serving as a primary media contact onsite for a variety of events, including all Brooklyn Nets home games; this position requires to work hours on nights, holidays and weekends as needed.

The Public Relations Coordinator will report to the Senior Manager of Public Relations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Support the full-season and single-game media credentialing process
  • Prepare and distribute comprehensive game notes for all games throughout the season
  • Maintain accurate statistical records for current season performance, historical team data, and individual player achievements
  • Manage content updates and maintenance of the team’s media website
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for print and broadcast media inquiries and requests
  • Facilitate media access during home practices, shootarounds, and pre- and post-game availability
  • Support execution of media events, press conferences, and related public relations initiatives
  • Provide assistance to visiting team communications and PR staff during home games
  • Contribute as writer and editor for the team’s annual media guide and postseason publications
  • Draft and edit team-related press releases and official announcements
  • Compose biographical content for players, coaching staff and basketball operations personnel
  • Represent the PR department to facilitate media access at player appearances and community outreach events as needed
  • Conduct statistical research to support basketball operations and team initiatives
  • Manage and execute the daily news clips process, including media monitoring and internal distribution
  • Organize and maintain departmental files and archival media assets
  • Respond to and fulfill media requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitor media coverage and social media activity related to the team and league

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Journalism is preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in sports PR (NBA or professional sports preferred)
  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of AP Style and ability to properly edit department documents
  • Proficient knowledge of NBA basketball, teams, players, league trends and history
  • The ability to lift up to 10 pounds

SALARY

$66,500 - $76,000 base salary

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works primarily in an office environment but is expected to work all Nets home games and practices, which include nights, weekends and holidays.

Travel Requirements: Infrequent Traveler (10-20% travel): The incumbent may be required to travel within and outside of the New York City area for away games and league events. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
