JOB DESCRIPTION: The College Park Skyhawks, the NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, are seeking an energetic, charismatic, and dynamic individual to bring our mascot "Colli" to life. Colli is the face of fan engagement, creating memorable experiences for fans at 24 home games and approximately 50 community appearances throughout the season. Additionally, this role will serve as an assistant to Harry the Hawk, the Atlanta Hawks’ mascot. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, physically fit, and skilled in dance and performance, and can creatively develop skits that entertain diverse crowds via nonverbal communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Act as the College Park Skyhawks mascot during all 24 College Park Skyhawks home games at Gateway Center Arena, and approximately 50 community appearances, including school visits, charity events, and sponsor activations, to promote the Skyhawks brand.
Engage fans through improvised and scripted skits, dance routines, crowd interactions, and on-court promotions to enhance the game-day experience.
Collaborate with Entertainment, Production, Marketing, Promotions, and Community Relations teams to align appearances with organizational goals and ensure seamless execution of performances.
Support the Atlanta Hawks’ mascot, Harry the Hawk, by serving as a backup performer or assistant during select NBA games and events as needed.
Work closely with the Entertainment Specialist and game operations team to plan and execute game-day activation skits
Assist in creating social media-specific mascot skits relevant to pop-culture trends to entertain fans beyond the arena
Maintain the mascot costume, ensuring it is clean, functional, and performance-ready.
Uphold the College Park Skyhawks’ and Atlanta Hawks’ brand values while in costume and during interactions with fans, sponsors, and community members
QUALIFICATIONS:
2-3 years of experience as a mascot or in a performance background (e.g., theater, dance, cheerleading, or character performance) is preferred.
Comfortable performing in front of large crowds and adapting to spontaneous situations.
Physically fit to execute high-energy movement, including dancing, jumping, and other animations for extended periods of time (up to 90 min) in varying temperatures and environments, including indoor arenas, outdoor events, and community venues.
Must be between 5’8” and 5’10” tall, the designated height of the character, to fit the costume(s).
Strong nonverbal communication skills to convey mascot personality through gestures and body language.
Creative mindset with the ability to develop and perform engaging skits and routines.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must pass a background check.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for community appearances.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding mascot identity.
