Position Summary:

The Baseball Operations Coordinator is responsible for organizing and managing baseball and softball activities for events, including tournaments, and related programs at The Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge. This entry-level role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth execution of these events by coordinating teams, managing logistics, and addressing day-to-day operational needs. The Baseball Operations Coordinator also supervises seasonal employees and interns, ensuring that all aspects of the events are held to Ripken Baseball’s high standards. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and participants to deliver successful programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing and implementing a variety of baseball and softball programs.
  • Oversee the operation of The Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge Tournaments, managing pre-event setup, in-event logistics, and post-event wrap-up to ensure a seamless experience for players, coaches, and parents.
  • Serve as Tournament Director for several tournaments throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons, ensuring all operational elements are executed to a high standard.
  • Build and maintain relationships with parents, coaches, staff, vendors, and partners, addressing any customer service issues with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Maintain an accurate and organized inventory of equipment and materials used by the Operations team, ensuring timely replenishment as needed.
  • Support the creation and management of program budgets, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Set a positive example for all participants by upholding high standards of safety, professionalism, and adherence to "The Ripken Way."
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure successful program operations and event execution.
  • Ensure that sponsorship activities related to tournament play are executed
  • Assist in facility, food and beverage, retail operations as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Willingness and ability to work extended hours, including weekends and some holidays, based on business needs.

• 1-2 years of experience in the sports industry, preferably in baseball or softball.

• Strong attention to detail with excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships.

• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn and develop new skills.

• Strong work ethic with a proactive approach to responsibilities.

• Excellent customer service orientation, with a focus on meeting the needs of parents and campers.

• Passion for baseball/softball, with a solid understanding of the game and the ability to teach and coach others.

• Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

• Experience working with children, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.

• Ability to supervise and lead others in a professional setting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Working Conditions / Special Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to support tournament and event operations.
  • Must have the physical ability to perform all necessary tasks related to event management.
  • Regularly required to lift or move up to 50 pounds, approximately 20% of the time.
  • Frequently exposed to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and outdoor elements such as dust and particles.
