About Property:

Deer Haven Campground is located directly across from Cooperstown All Star Village and has served campers and families visiting the area for over 25 years. The campground provides a welcoming and relaxing environment for guests throughout the baseball season and summer months. Deer Haven offers RV and tent camping accommodation and serves as a convenient lodging option for families visiting Cooperstown All Star Village.

The property is owned and operated by Cooperstown All Star Village, a premier youth baseball tournament destination that hosts teams and families from across the country each summer.

Position Summary:

The Resident Campground Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, guest services, and overall management of Deer Haven Campground. This is a year-round, live-on-site position with housing provided on the property.

During the operating season (May–September), the Manager oversees all campground operations, ensures a positive guest experience, and supervises any seasonal staff. During the off-season, the Manager monitors the property, coordinates maintenance and improvements, and assists with planning and preparation for the upcoming season.

This role requires strong customer service skills, organizational ability, and the capacity to manage a variety of operational responsibilities in a hospitality-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily campground operations during the operating season (May–September)

  • Ensure guests have a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable campground experience

  • Supervise and coordinate seasonal staff as needed

  • Enforce campground policies and address guest concerns in a professional manner

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of campsites, facilities, and common areas

  • Perform or coordinate routine maintenance and repairs across the property

  • Work with vendors and contractors when needed

  • Monitor utilities and campground infrastructure

  • Maintain supplies and coordinate ordering when necessary

  • Work closely with the Lodging Services team to coordinate and manage campground reservations

  • Oversee property security and general upkeep during the off-season

  • Assist with main campus upkeep during the off-season

  • Assist with seasonal setup, winterization, and operational planning

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities

  • Organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Willingness to live on-site at the campground

  • Ability to perform light maintenance and outdoor property upkeep

Preferred:

  • Previous campground, hospitality, property management, or outdoor recreation experience

  • Experience supervising staff or managing operations

  • Basic maintenance, landscaping, or facilities knowledge

Working Conditions / Special Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires living on-site at the campground residence provided

  • Frequent outdoor work in various weather conditions

  • Ability to walk the campground property regularly and monitor facilities

  • Ability to lift, move, or carry supplies and equipment as needed

  • Evening and weekend availability, including being on-call for occasional urgent or emergency situations, is part of the managerial responsibilities of the role; however, this position is not intended to require continuous on-call coverage and allows for reasonable personal time.
